According to my unofficial count, we have 11 seniors (counting Barnett) who need to be replaced scholarshipwise. I don't know how many scholarships we were under the NCAA limit that we might be able to offer, nor do I know how many scholarship athletes may not come back for the 2016 season. This looks to me like it could be another year of 20+ recruits and that could really fill out our roster/position holes. We have potentially 3 deep on the OL already on the roster. We also have at least 2 and maybe 3 deep in the Defensive backfield. We are thin at WR, RB, LB, TE (depending on position changes and who comes back-Griffith?) and could use a DL or two (fast DE's would be my preference). Is Qualls going to be a QB or WR? Will Clyburn be RS? Can we go with Brown, Duncan, and James at RB or do we need another RB(or 2)? I suppose if the Ngungatau brothers come that they will take up 2 schollies. We have numbers at several positions but will they be PLAYERS? Where do you guys say we will put out emphasis? It will be great when we are able to recruit 1 or 2 players at each position each year and not be anxious about immediately filling a glaring need. Will that day ever come?

I'm restricted a little because I really don't know what we have waiting in the wings, like Dunn and Long at LB. They could be great players. I'm hopeful James and Miller are game changers for us.

I'll answer these, though I will likely be wrong at every turn.
Collums said last year that we will likely take 12-15 players each year. Now, I do think there will be some guys that leave the program at the end of the semester (I say that only because it happens every year at every school).
QB- 1- With Munden playing more WR and Ennis playing TE, I think we will want a young guy to backup Parker/Dallas
RB- 1 more- Sims graduates and Gober quit/kicked off team. We have added Clayburn and red-shirted Tracy James. Still have Brown and Duncan
WR- 3 more- Graduate Gilbert, Stone, Epps, Hudson and Green-Avery. We added Qualls, but will likely add a few JUCO guys here. Key returners are Whitley, Proctor and Sadler. We also red-shirted Justin Miller and Phelps
TE/FB- 2- Walker graduated and Griffith left the team. We return Flowers, Weathers, Hite and Lawlis, possibly Shipley
OL- 1- Funk graduates and likely will not get another year back. Lots of young guys here, but the depth is solid- Mayfield, Wall, Rieken, Hisler, Valladolid, Shipley, Laws, King, Baughman, Thigpen and Melde
DE- 3- Moore and Wimbley graduate. Only returners are Douglass and Tolbert. I expect us to add a JUCO guy or 2 as well as a high school player
DT- 1- I expect us to add a player to the mix. Bloom, L. Allen, Meadows, Tr. Moore and Edmondson all return
LB- 2- Grady and Tarver graduate. Denmark, Gates, Solsberry, Burford, Dunn, Cantwell and Long all return
CB-0- Barnett returns from injury. Butler, Griffin, Dale, Q. Baker and Mack are back as well
S- 1- Arnold, Bryant, Henderson, D. Howard, Prince, Onifade, Burke and Richmond return

Mavsman, great breakdown! I don't know about Cedric Dale returning and I love that a poster said that Hunter Griffith may try and return this spring after getting a doctor's approval.

Several have said that Dale is gone. Would that alter your cornerback projection? If M. Ngungatau enrolls would that change your DT projection (or if Kee returns to DL)? If E. Ngungatau enrolls would that change your OL projection? If Griffith returns would that change this projection at TE? So many question marks. When will the Ngungatau bros. finish their 2 year mission commitments--early summer or fall?

I knew I forgot someone (Kee). As far as the Ngungatau brothers, I think it is asking a lot to expect much out of them right away, being that they have been 2 years away from the game. I will still add an OLmen. As far as Griffith goes, I think the coaching staff would love to have him back. Concussions are nothing to mess around with. If Shipley remained at TE and Griffith returned, the need for a TE would be lessened.
Lots of questions for sure, many of which will be answered in early February.

Agree with you on the Ngungatau brothers, mavsman. Hopefully, them being brothers, they've worked out with each other (it's always a good thing to have a work-out partner) and eaten well, but don't expect them to be major contributors right away. As far as recruiting o-linemen and d-linemen, I would assume ACU will be recruiting 2 of each from now on to replace outgoing Seniors every year. Without the experienced bigs paddling your boat, it will start drifting in the wrong direction.

I know Frank Kee. He's returning to offense full time. He realizes this is his best chance for the league. No one on the team can beat him one-on-one. Even Josh says they lock up and neither can move the other. Plus, he'd rather be a starter at guard than a role player at D-tackle. I'm drooling over Riley and Frank side by side.
Of course the older I get, the more I drool anyway. Bogey and Oscar have the same problem.
Regarding Eddie and Moe, they were not together on their missions. They have been in two different countries. One is in Honduras, the other is in another Central American country. They are allowed 2 hours off every day to work out.

Cat, does that move Laws to the other side? Would the long term on the left side be Shipley (Oscar leans that way) and Laws? Is Hisler a lock at center (I know he played valiantly on one leg, but he missed a boatload of blocks last year)?

And it might be nice to have a good rotation of OL next season. Could be very beneficial to give guys a series off here and there with little to no downgrade with the backups in.

Catmaster, that is exactly where I have been hoping we could see ACU end up - with a rotation of 9-10 O-linemen where there is not a big dropoff. I also look forward to watching the O-line this spring (here I am talking about spring and it is not even Christmas yet). The o-line woes this year particularly with injuries, will be a blessing in disguise next year when several players who might not have seen action without the injuries (Dakota Laws probably would have redshirted, Hanner Shipley might be redshirted, Frank Kee would have stayed on the defensive side of the ball, Brady Melde probably would have seen very little, if any time, on the field).

Do we have a shot at Omar Manning, cousin of a fella with the same last name who used to play around here?
Looks like he has a lot of P5 offers and seems to be leaning toward TCU. Just wondering if there is a family connection that might help us out here? Curiously, none of the web sites show we have shown interest and only 1 ACU coach follows him, and that happened only recently. Not that this means anything. We could be recruiting him away from social media. Anyway, sounds like a long shot but ya never know.

Do we really need a 5 star receiver?

Like Danieal, we will get Omar when he decides to transfer. :-)) Interestingly, he didn't seem to be on a lot of teams' radars until his senior season.
