Some players are wearing the correct numbers and some aren't. I stood at the top of the ramp last night and watched just a few plays. Mansell had 2 excellent throws on back to back plays and both were easy touchdowns. I would have stayed longer, but I was in the middle of a workout. If I waited around too long, I would have just quit, which actually sounded like the right decision What # was Mansell wearing? The first day videos showed QB/s making a couple of great throws, but the Jersey #s didn’t match roster #s.

Mansell is #2 Long #5 McIvor #3 Thanks, I knew Mansell was #2 and figured long was #5 and Highhouse is still #15 I assume?

I was walking my dog around ACU and happened to catch a glimpse of practice when they were doing 11 on 11 and McIvor was running the offense well from what I saw. He made some really good throws.

Noting another OL addition--Fr. #64 Ethan Clark from Pineville, La Hudl says 6'3.5" 305. Our roster says 295. Film is good.

I have seen some good throws by Mansell, McIvor and Long. It's great to see the competition heating up already and LOVE having several capable QBs. Sorry we are talking QBs on the OL thread Mavsman... I have only caught glimpses so far of any action, so don't have that much to go on. Still, the competition at several positions is good to see.

Yes, Ethan Clark is a walk-on. He committed a long time ago, but was only recently added to the team page

Help me understand the rules again. PWO's can practice in August but walk-ons can't until school starts or is that a past D2 rule. Just needing clarification.

Bogey, I cannot vouch 100% for accuracy, but I will give it my bet shot.
The NCAA allows a team to bring 105 players to fall camp. Obviously, with a maximum number of players who can be on scholarship at any given time being at 85, that means somewhere around 20 of the players in camp are walkons. If a player leaves the team during camp -- which inevitably happens with any team -- the coaches usually have walkons prioritized and they can tell the player to come to camp immediately and report. On the first day of classes, all remaining walkons can report.
If ACU somehow finds a scholarship DT to come to camp today, someone will have to leave camp to keep the number within the allowable. Remember that Charcandrick showed up about halfway through camp several years ago.

I was looking back at the report based on the conversation with Steven Lee and Skylar Cassity. Interesting to note that the only offensive lineman mentioned by name as looking particularly good was Jacob Thielen. Don't think we will see him switch to the defensive side of the ball this season.

Yes, I noted that myself. With the OL additions we made it is nice to see that at least two returners will probably be starters (Moore and Thielen). I continue to think OL may be our biggest improvement over last year but am anxious to see our 3-deep and rotation. I'm hoping holdovers like Tate, Howerton and Smith get positive minutes and I'm fascinated with Tay Yanta. Is he just big or can he play? Sorry that Andrews is out. I think he can be a star in the future. Depending on the performance of guys we've never seen play (Ghirmai, Sakiri, Pullen and the freshmen) it seems this position may be a strength for some time.

I’d love to see an interview with Coach Pugh to see his impressions so far.
