Do people really come to a football game to hear loud "music" after every play? Someone would have to prove that to me. From experience I can assure that UT, Arkansas, Texas A & M, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Iowa, Oklahoma, USC, etc. don't need it. Neither do all of the professional teams. They have been filing huge stadiums for decades without it. Some people like the game of football. Others couldn't care less. As for the students, if they like it so much, why don't they come to hear it? Has anyone looked over to the student section from the beginning until the end of the games. It darn sure doesn't keep those that do come there. I just don't get it and it obviously ain't working. I personally know of some adults who leave the games early because they have had all of this that they can stand. I would bet that not one single person who reads this blog is influenced in any way to come the games by this constant noise. Maybe it even keeps the crowd from getting more involved in the game and cheering for the team. Probably not. After all, other teams have fans, ACU has observers. You have either never been to a professional and/or game at the above mentioned schools, or you weren't paying attention. These schools and professional teams have music playing on the speakers at any dead time in the action. At least the games I have been to have. Again, as others have said, it's all about timing, and they will get better. Agree, they could turn it down a bit and still have the same effect. On another, note, with PVAM bringing their band, I hope Big Purple does more than stand and play during their portion of halftime this week. However, all that being said, I'll still go because I am supporting the 'Cats and the staff and I want to see our teams to "fight, fight and win this game the Wildcat way!" I would imagine the stand and play halftime was due to a lack of practice time from when school started. There should be an actual marching routine this week. By the way, I’ve never seen a handicapped band member being pushed down the field during a march. I thought that was really cool. In my days in the BP, we had a handicapped band member in an electric wheel chair but he would only go on the field and remain stationary during the performance. One thing to remember about students leaving at halftime - it was a Thursday night and I’m sure many had 8:00 classes on Friday morning.

Trust me, the students were not worried about an 8am class the next day. My son's middle school football game finished and then we headed to Whataburger. We saw many ACU students who had clearly been at the game. That would have been around late in the 3rd quarter.

Yes, that was cool to see! And yes, as a former YBPer myself, I have high expectations for the band. Hope they bring it on Saturday!

We must have been at different games. At the game that I went to, 100% of the students stayed until the end of the game. I think maybe it was because they so enthralled by the constant loud music that they could just even considere leaving. And yes, I have been to games at many of the schools that I listed. Have also been to many NFL regular season games (in various venues), playoff games, and Super Bowls. In fact, our family has had season tickets to the Mavericks since when they played in Reunion Arena and the Cowboys since they started playing in the Cotton Bowl. I will never forget being at a Dallas Cowboys playoff game at Texas Stadium (in freezing weather) when they were playing the Cardinals. Early in the 4th quarter the Cowboys were behind by 10-14 points and over the speakers they played "We will, We will rock you. I thought that maybe the Cowboys should at least have evened the score before they "rocked them". Every time I hear that "song" I think of that incident. Always good for a laugh.

Anyone remember Woosley's? Yep, 5 burgers for a dollar. I used to go around and get four quarters from my teammates in the dorm and then head over to Woosley's for my free burger.

If yall have other info I would love to hear it.

I was told earlier they would be, but it looks like they got invited to be the halftime entertainment at Houston Texans' game, so it looks like they are not coming to Abilene. The PVAMU Marching Storm will not be in attendance for the PVAMU vs. Abilene Christian University Football Game on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Abeline, Texas. Join us on Sunday, September 11, as we perform at the Texans NFL season opener at NRG stadium! -Dr. Zachery PVAMU Marching Storm (@pvamustorm)
