The first game is in three days against Lamar and with a new coaching staff and scheme, I am looking forward to seeing the game live.
I predict we will go 7-4 this year with losses to Missouri, Sam Houston St, North Dakota and SFA (away game).

I predict 4-7 with us beating Lamar, PV A&M, Western New Mexico and Utah Tech. I’m going to be more conservative in my predictions because there’s so many unknowns. We have a totally brand new staff and so many new players that I would be surprised if we hit the ground running. I thought Dorrel would turn this thing around and I got burned so I’m going to take a wait and see approach here with this coaching staff. I want to proven wrong though.

I am closer to your thinking than Mike's thinking. I was so hopeful with Dorrel and his sterling record at D2 and National Championships that I am certainly taking a wait and see approach. I am very glad to see the changes they have made and fully support this staff, but not sure I can call for our first winning record in years at this point.

There’s a new staff and season. The purple drink is still sweet and strong tasting. For that reason I almost said 11-0…but after much thought, I decided to go with 7 - 4. If the boys beat SFA on 10/08 they have a real possibility of getting to 6 & 1 after 7 games. None of the other teams were world beaters last season. I know all the other teams are looking at ACU as not being a world beater in 2021…that is where the new staff, new players, large glass of purple drink gets me feeling warm and fuzzy. Phil my final answer is 7-4 …Go Cats

I’m torn between 6-5 and 7-4. I’ll go with 6-5 with a couple of good showings against higher caliber teams.

6-5, but I would like 8-3

Right now I think 6-5 is a decent prognosis. I think we have the possibility for 7-4. If we win the first game against SFA, IF, then I like our chances for a 7-4. An 8-3 would definitely be a pleasant surprise. I love that the players are excited and have the lofty goals they do. Would I be disappointed with 5-6? I am not sure. I saw things in both the Spring game and the 1st scrimmage that was different about this team. I think those differences will work in our favor, even with the newness and unknowns. To what degree I am still not sure.

I would love to be on board with 7 wins, but the other teams can run play action. It’s hard to get fully behind an above .500 season considering how far we fell.
But if we complete a few deep balls and sack a QB that runs play action, 7 wins becomes realistic.

Mike, thanks for getting this thread going for season projections - you have been a tremendous addition to the board over the past year.
I will be happy with a 6-5 season this year. Anything over that is a huge bonus. Like JCat, if our DE's and OLB's handled the play action better this year, the chances of 7-4 or above becomes realistic. Last year's 5-6 record was a mirage -- 2 wins against Lamar, a win against a mediocre D-2 school, a win against a D-3 school in the process of moving to NAIA (that was why we could count that game), and a quality win over Tarleton.

Wins over Sam and ND will be upsets, for sure. So the season hinges on the four games against SFA (2), Tarleton, and Southern Utah on the road. Based on this, I like 7-4. Pass the Koolaid.

Hey Negative Nelly a 4-7 Prognostication is like leaving a 2 foot birdie putt short. Remember Never up Never in…take big swallow of the Kool-Aid, point to the fence like Babe Ruth and take a mighty 7&4 or 8&3 home run swing with me… Those are all the sports analogies I could muster…

I figured your connection to ACU football had either been fired, transferred, or graduated.

Hope we have practiced in wet weather... slippery balls produce strange outcomes. But I am sticking with 6-5.

I'm just not easily distracted by coach speak and banana pudding like you guys are when it comes to evaluating a team.
