DT LaDreyous "Dre" Jones from Highland JUCO just committed! He is listed at 6'2 263. He has 3 years to play. Jones had 36 tackles last year. I've added his tape below. Seems to fight off blockers fairly well www.hudl.com/v/2CLCqk

One thing that played in our favor- Coach Jeff Hancock, who was a part-time assistant for us this past year, is now the head coach at Highland JUCO.

4.71 40 is pretty impressive. Doesn't look quick but strong. Maybe he'll be a player. Already used a RS year.

I would say that some of those offensive lineman were FBS class. He also saw Ramon Jefferson from Garden City CC, whom I've previewed in the transfers thread (and who will undoubtedly start for Sam this year). Highland had no answers for Jefferson and Jones only had 1 tackle in that game. That Garden City line, and Jefferson, would have likely steamrolled much of the SLC.

"Steamrolled much of the SLC" That's pretty high praise for a JUCO that lost 3 games to other JUCO teams. Grant you they could put a BIG OL on the field but...

TE Tyler Carr commits to Hawaii. I blame myself for not sending him pics of Fort Phantom and Kirby Lake

Ugh! Carr would have been a nice addition this year. Has he already graduated or will he have to sit out a year at Hawaii? I guess the beach had just a little much allure for a kid from Canadian, TX.

On the Tech football page, it says he is a grad transfer.

Well, you're right that Garden City had a big group last year. I think the back half of our conference (UIW, Northwestern, SFA, Houston Baptist, and Lamar) would struggle against them up front. This is not to say that our Southland teams would lose. My point is that the battles in the trenches would be competitive. Would ACU be able to contain Jefferson? He's the kind of back that's given us fits in the past. We'll see him in the Fall if the games get played. I dropped a note a while back to the coaches about one of their lineman, guard Nymonta Doucoure (6'4 350) who grew up in Africa. Though he only played one year of high school ball, he did earn all-state his senior year in Ohio. Last season as a redshirt freshman, he was honorable mention All-American in JUCO. I think he's had a lot of things in his life that have forced him to grow up quick. He may not be a fit for our program, but he can certainly play. While I don't have tape, my suspicion is that Doucoure was matched up with our new recruit "Dre" Jones throughout that game. And while Jones had a productive season, he only made 1 tackle in that game.

Offer out tonight to former Nebraska OL AJ Forbes. He was a walk-on Nebraska, redshirted his first year and did not play a snap this year. He is listed at 6'4 310.
Forbes has received a lot of offers the last few days since announcing that he was leaving Nebraska-

I would think that even if he didn't get to play a lot at Nebraska he should have improved some more. I wonder why he is just getting a mixture of FCS and DII offers other then the lack of play time. I would love to see him come here and fight his way to the rotation.

Extremely fast offer from our staff. He announced he was entering the portal (interesting term for the times we live in) late last night and announces and offer from us this morning. Colorado Mesa also offered him.
