“I want to be one of the best tight ends to ever go to ACU and I’d love to go to the next level from ACU,” said Cooper, at his signing ceremony in the Larry L. Johnson Athletic Complex at Ford High School. YES!

Great catch for ACU and a continuation of a tradition.

The two Texas State transfers are rated very highly by two fine coaches I know. The running back is a 4.34 speed guy who weights 200 pounds.

Continuing from comments from a very successful coach today, he thought Stone Earle could turn out to be quite a good player and also incoming Hayden Anderson is one of the highest rated QBs he has graded in a long time. He was very positive about the new recruits and thought this was the best class we have had in a good while. He also suggested a younger current player might wind up playing a different position in the coming year. It was an interesting discussion. He thought we were getting some 4 plus players (but maybe not listed that way) and he had not graded previous classes nearly as highly.

Per Twitter, Carthage OL (6’6” 320lbs) Ty’kieast Crawford has entered the Transfer Portal. Originally an Arkansas commit, he ended up at UNC-Charlotte when Hogs moved on from Chad Morris. While I’d expect him to show up at UTSA since it’s HC (Jeff Traylor) was his lead recruiter, he’ll fill a lot of somebody’s needs.

The staff is aware of him and 3 coaches are already following him. He is a former 4-star recruit, and I think teams all over the country will be after him.
Just a reminder, check often on the 2020 transfer market that is in the recruiting section on this board. It is updated almost every other day.

Carthel is close to the Carthage program. Let’s hope the big boy doesn’t end up at SFA

WR MJ Singleton Whitfield de-committed from Rice last night. ACU had strong interest in him and likely will again, as they gave him an official offer a few months back. He has offers from Rice, UIW and La. Monroe. He is garnering some interest from UNT.

CB Donald Lee III de-committed from Tulane. We were his very first offer. He has offers from many schools, including La. Tech, Houston, SMU, Utah St and HBU.

Mavsman, when a player "de-commits" from a school AFTER the early signing window has closed, is that an indication that the FBS school has already signed enough athletes that they will not have to sign anyone else in the traditional signing period?

Great question. It can mean a number of things-
1. It could mean that the team went in a different direction. The team might be interested in someone else more than the player committed. Unfortunately, sometimes schools pull offers.
2. It could mean the player has decided to go in a different direction
3. With players not able to visit campuses, a lot of players are committing to schools and yet, have never been on campus. A lot of players are choosing to stay closer to home right now. Could that be an advantage for us with Singleton who is a Lubbock kid? Maybe. Remember, his teammate is Tyrin Bradley.
One thing I think we will see is 2021 recruiting will go on throughout the summer. For a team like ACU that has a lot to holes to fill and 9 signees so far, expect a large number of scholarship openings. Yes, they always keep 3-4 for over the summer, but don't be surprised if we have 8-10 openings from Feb-August.

The transfer portal is crazy right now. There are big time players from big time programs leaving daily.
From the Big 12- Oklahoma 10 transfers out Texas 8, and expect more due to Herman and his staff gone Kansas St 11 Texas Tech 10 Kansas 14
Our staff is actively looking, but whether or not they can secure a transfer or 2 before the semester starts on Monday is anyone's guess. Dorrel and the staff have their work cut out for them
