I counted 15 teams with 5 or fewer losses that didn’t make the playoffs, excluding the Ivy League and the HBCU’s that don’t participate in the playoffs, Sam Houston and McNeese both had five losses and stayed at home last year, as did perineal power Eastern Washington. Do you think last year was skewed because of the 12 game schedule? Some teams - like ACU - scheduled an extra loss. I think ACU’s 2019 OOC schedule was an unmitigated disaster in terms of playoff consideration— two losses virtually assured and a game against a non-d1 team that didn’t count toward the six win minimum needed for playoff consideration.

Oscar, I completely agree. Dorrel said at the beginning of the year he was not a fan of this year's schedule. I honestly think that was just one of the issues he had with DeLeon who had set it up

One thing that I think would be interesting, and maybe I/or someone else will have time to research this, is how many teams MISSED the playoffs that had 4 or 5 losses. My guess, and it is just a guess, is that it is more than those who made it. I'm not trying to argue one way or another, as I see the pros and cons of only playing 1 FBS school versus 2. Back to Tarleton St, I saw a national reporter say he think Tarleton will do great as a D1 school. The main reason- they are the closest non-FBS D1 school to the DFW area. “perineal”? Sorry Oscar, couldn’t resist.

Interesting snarky comment from DMN sportswriter Kevin Sherrington:
Gillespie: “I’m not bragging or anything, but I think quite a bit of attention was brought to the (Tarleton) basketball program because I was hired." Sherrington: Let’s see: three DUIs, multiple NCAA violations, allegations of mistreating players. No, I wouldn’t call it bragging, either.
