Maybe we should follow Vanderbilt’s lead and recruit a kicker from the women’s soccer team.

Sorry, I should have clarified my message. Hohenstein is transferring out as a grad transfer Ouch! I hate seeing this. Hohenstein is one that I thought might stay -- ACU gave him a chance when he left Nebraska. I don't know that he has as much "saleability" as Gibbens and Parmelly.

Maybe we should follow Vanderbilt’s lead and recruit a kicker from the women’s soccer team. She gave that ball a pretty good squib kick Vandy didn’t score any TD’s so she didn’t have a chance to lick any extra points. Her FG range wasm35 yards but they didn’t get close enough for her to attempt a FG either.

I watched Vanderbilt the game (for the first and probably last time)...In hopes she would get to kick a field goal. Her range might have been 35 yards. However watching her pregame extra points on espn they barely cleared the crossbar. With that being said, i would guess if she can kick a soccer ball 50 yards as stated on TV I would expect she could kick a football 35 yards. Just needs some practice...

Carli Lloyd of the USA Women's National Team went to the Philadelphia Eagles camp last year and kicked FGs from 40 to 55 yards. Of course, there was no rush and she was wearing shorts but still ...

Yeah, what changes??? It is hard for me to understand our transfer losses because academics at their new homes do not add up to a benefit in my opinion -- at least most of the ones I have read about. Do they think they have a better chance at a pro career? Well, that is big risk. Do they have a beef about something or are tired of ACU? Do they have promises of playing time or something related to the team experience? I don't get it. Those hoping for a pro career need to consider a fall back position, just in case. Athletics is a great and wonderful thing, but your future career is the really big deal and ACU offers opportunities and quality that is anything but run of the mill. I admit I may be missing something completely.

If I were those guys and got my 4-year degree at ACU and had a chance to fund the first year of my grad degree by playing football, I think I might do it. Knowing Gibbens and Parmelly, this move is likely more about academics than football. Gibbens has a great chance of getting into an NFL camp as a FA but unlikely as a draftee. I can’t say about Parmelly or Hohenstein.
While ACU’s undergrad programs are as good as anywhere in the country, our grad offerings are fairly limited. So I totally understand and support leaving as a grad transfer.

Am I correct in thinking that these 3 players would not have another year of eligibility if not for this Covid year?

If they are getting graduate degrees, that is valuable but I am not seeing the creme' de la creme' graduate schools. Still, you make it make a lot more sense. No reason to delay your future if you can get a free year of graduate school. Of course I have no idea what various athletes are studying so it is hard for me to make some of the generalized statements I have made. Glad you point this out because it eases my worry a bit.
