Outsider never lets down with the catastrophizing reactions. Not the start we wanted for sure, but we still got a solid shot at winning the tournament. I believe in our bats enough to think we can get this done. When 6 out of 9 starters are hitting over .300 you got a team who can close gaps.

Just think about how tired Sam’s batters will be after this game. It would have been nice to run the table but there were at least six quality teams in this tournament. Sam is deeper in their rotation than we are. We’ll get ‘em in the elimination game.

Well now, it’s 12-14 in the top of the 8th. Watch this space.

Again, a valiant effort but a huge gap against a very good team.

OK, good comeback after a disastrous starting pitching performance. Today, I assume we'll go with Chirpich who has about the same speed as Cervantes. Can he come up with a jewel today? If so, what do we do in the championship game? If Cervantes had been pulled in the 1st, he'd have some gas in the tank for today. Can Morgan go 2-3 innings? Huffling and Glaze should have a couple of innings left and Riley should be able to go several innings if needed. The key is to not have to use multiple pitchers in game 1 today. Of course if needed, we have to throw whomever in order to get to the championship game. McNeese is hitting everyone and now have their 4th game starter available for tonight's game. Hard row for us but if our hitters are hot and can get key hits, we'll make it interesting. (We left too many opportunities in the Sam Houston game yesterday--Both Tatrow and Eager left the bases full and we didn't score late when we got our 1st two batters on). We need the baseball gods with us today--a conference tourney title and a regional berth could mean a bunch to our future recruiting.

It was a hard game for me to watch. Cervantes did not look right from the first pitch and was exposing the ball a lot (which is how you spot off speed and curve balls.) I got worried with the second batter and panicked after the third. He was not firing it but trying to spot far too much -- without the movement he needed. I understand the hesitancy of pulling a starting pitcher so quickly because you use up your relivers but in retrospect, it would have been easier to sweep than to play the extra game. Just my thoughts. Today really needs to be a return to offensive output. If we pound the ball, we can get by the pitching stress, and we are capable of better hitting. Body language reveals a lot and the beginning of last night did not seem to have our hitters walking up knowing they were going to get solid smacks on the ball. We looked like the moment was a bit challenging, swinging late a lot of the time -- opposite field fouls and such. Today, is time to get our swagger back. This team can do that.

Baseball is a game of highs and lows... streaks of good and bad. We have picked a bad time to be on the downward slide. Just one answer now, our offense must explode.

Baseball is exactly a game of highs and lows. I think we just hit our peak too soon. It's great that we won the regular season championship, but what I have been watching the last couple of weeks won't take us to the top of the Tourney. Our guys are battling with everything they have, but both pitching and hitting are just not consistently there. Plus, I am seeing just too many errors. We are not out of this game or Tourney yet. The only thing that will keep us in it though is to change our playing. I hope we do.

Wow, Sam’s bats came alive the last 3 games or so. And our pitching has been exposed.
