“I’ve been able to be under Coach Lee for four years now, and I’ve learned a lot,” UMHB quarterback Ryan Redding noted in November. “He’s been able to help me learn the offense as well as I have, especially in the last year or two.”
“If I had never played a down of football here at UMHB, I would’ve still come here because it has helped me so much mentally,” King said of Lee in an interview during the playoffs. “His knowledge of offense has been eye-opening to me. I’ve never had a coach like that before. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Coach Lee.”

I’m really excited for this pick. The guy is a winner. I especially ove the quotes from the former player above.

Kinda curious to me to have a coach hire an offensive coordinator without letting the offensive coordinator be involved in the process of hiring some of the offensive position coaches. Do we think that was the case here? Is that standard or typical?

Let's not confuse KP for Jerry Jones. I would have to imagine that the staff was discussed well in advance

I'm looking at the list of coaches named on page 1 of this thread and see every offensive position coach still to be named (except TE). Did I miss something and KP has hired those positions w/o Lee's input?

Let's not confuse KP for Jerry Jones. I would have to imagine that the staff was discussed well in advance I’m wondering if Lee was a finalist for the UMHB head coach position. The long-time HC retired, and yesterday the former UMHB DC was named Head Coach. Then just a few hours later we find out that Lee has been named OC here. In that case, I am guessing he will be able to build some of his offensive staff and couldn’t start hiring anyone until all of this played out.

Then I will disregard messages received implying offensive coaches had been hired.

If we are going to a 3-3-5 defense, as has been suggested, this helps fit the need for 2 LB coaches. In a 3-3-5, often your OLB's will rush the QB more, than we have in the past

I wondered the same thing but, according to an article on the website TrutotheCru, Lee had made the decision to leave for ACU before Fredenburg announced his retirement. truetothecru.com/2022/01/07/umhb-offensive-coordinator-stephen-lee-to-take-oc-position-at-abilene-christian/

Very well could be that Lee was hired weeks ago and has been working with KP on putting together his offensive staff. I would like to think that’s how it would go if you are trusting a coordinator with your offense. You want them to bring in guys they think they want to work with. Other than the TE/special teams coach, the rest have been KP’s defensive guys.
