How is this Patterson’s fault? You hate to Lose team leaders no matter what side of ball they are on…With that being said, it's a different coaching staff and not everyone off the 2021 roster will be a fit. I‘ve had multiple players say the coaches are quick to let everyone know..”if you don’t want to be here go…there are others that want to be on the team”. Thus far l like KP’s message and demeanor with the team. I don’t remember the past regime chasing P5 players. I am hopeful KP & staff can keep the players they want to keep and add other quality players. Can’t disagree with anything you said.

2 quick updates-
DT Quent Titre commits to Rice.
DT Isaiah Pedack has left the program. I noticed that he was not on the roster at the spring showcase. He has not entered the transfer portal officially, but is following several junior college programs. When a player does that, it typically means one thing.

OL Kaleb Chester has entered the portal. Coach Patterson said that his staff would begin evaluating players after Easter. This could be one of those. There will be more

I also hope this means we are confident that we'll be getting more OL in the next few weeks. I think we have some quality in those who played last year and some youngsters but we are woefully short on depth. Anxious to see how this unfolds as the summer begins and progresses.

I know there are people that follow the portal pretty closely.

Yes, there likely will be more, but I do not see that as a bad thing. The current players and coaches have to determine if this is the right fit

I get that the transfer portal is for the players benefit, but man is it exhausting and as a fan, annoying and ridiculous.

In the first year of the portal, there were 15,000 players from all sports that entered the portal. After high school and jr college players are signed, are there even that many scholarships out there?
This should be the last year that the Covid waiver is in effect. After this, I think a player only gets one transfer with immediate eligibility. After that, he/she must sit out for a year.
I think things may settle down some. Coaching staffs are going to take more care in recruiting and in communication with student athletes. Outlandish promises about starting the first year or whatever probably won't be as prevalent.
At least I hope so.

It's not always the grass is greener syndrome. You have to realize that each coach has a "type" of player they like to use. If a new coach comes in, the current player may not fit the mold. For example, some coaches like big bulky o line guys while others like lean and fast guys. Players have a limited # of years to play. Sometimes you just know you don't have a shot and have to go find a place that needs you.

Football Moma is an insightful person! But a story... at the Showcase scrimmage there was a lady with a shirt that had "Football Mama" across it. I asked her if she posted here thinking it might be our "Football Mama", but she said she was not a poster on CatChat, not the person I thought she might be. She was very nice and obviously an ACU booster but apparently not our knowledgeable "Football Mama."
