Heart breaking loss to SHSU 81-82. ACU had a 15 point lead with under 5 minutes to play. From that point, RC, the Bearkats made 6 3pt shots. 6!!!!! In 5+ minutes. That’s crazy. ACU didn’t lose this game, SH won it.

Don't know if there is a post season tourney that would take us, I suppose not. So, if our season is over what is a take away? My first take away is that our starting five for the most part played exceptional ball. We were undersized to almost every team we played yet kept most games competitive. Aspen Thornton played a marvelous PG and had a great season for us. Can't wait to see her at full strength, each game next year. Madi Miller had her best season as a Cat. Her 3-point shot improved dramatically and without a doubt was our leader on the court. Maleeah Langstaff played her heart out and over the last 10 games could not be stopped. A welcome grad transfer addition. Addison Martin gets my "lion heart" trophy. She battled every game against posts that were 3-4 inches taller and more than held her own. Bella Earle rebounds like she is 6'10". She didn't score like I wish she would have but her defense on the wing in our zone and her positioning under the basket on shots was phenomenal.
Our bench was short but: Claire Graham had lots of energy, a good outside shot and spelled Bella, Madi and Maleeah at times. Zoe Jackson had some bright moments and maybe can be a good relief for Aspen next year. She needs to play a bit more under control. Rachael Harjo has a great mid distance shot and her 6'2" frame should be a challenge to teams from the outside. Her slight frame kept her from being a force in the paint.
We rarely saw the rest of the ladies and don't know which of them may leave, if any. So, bring on the next wave of Cats. I think each of the 4 ladies we are bringing in have a chance to play lots of minutes next year. I just wish we would bring in another 6'3" post to help Meredith Mayes and Addy Martin.

I am just sad that some of our "last game played" ladies are moving on from such a game. They were inspiring players but this time was just not to be.

As with every year, it’s probable that a couple of players will leave. After the end of year reviews, one or two may not have their scholarship renewed. Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if another transfer or two show up in the summer.
As wonderful as it might be to bring in a skyscraper, I will be okay with a couple of 6’1 or 6’2 ladies.

Currently the roster next year is full at 15 players. But Cattitude is correct, I fully expect 1-3 spots to open up.
One thing, let's NOT name names of who it might be. That is not fair to that player or that family. When it happens, we can talk openly

Watching the WAC women's tourney finals is interesting. Southern Utah and Cal Baptist... Our girls beat SUU in overtime and lost to Cal Baptist by two.

Big news in my opinion, Maleeah Langstaff was chosen 1st team all WAC and both she and Aspen were named to the all newcomer team. I am really glad that Maleeah’s sensational season has been recognized.

Good for Weston. He and Laurie both played at Harding.

Looking but not finding... Where is a list of the WAC basketball all-conference teams? Maleeah Langstaff had something mentioned about her but I cannot find anything from the WAC. There is one story, but it is a local newspaper behind a paywall.

Congrats to Weston. I'd be interested to see if Julie talks to former Tarleton WBB coach Misty Wilson about the open assistant job. She is a CoC girl who was a star player at Tarleton and was an assistant and then HC. She has helped turn the program around to be very successful in the D2 ranks and battled through an injury-ridden year this year, losing four starters at different times. Tarleton let her go after she was told she would get to at least ride out her contract during the transition to D1. Fans and former players VERY upset from everything I hear.
Apparently from what I read somewhere, the current TSU president is into himself and hiring big names (like Billy J Gillespie). They are supposedly hiring Bill Brock who was an assistant at Baylor under Kim Mulkey and who has coaching stints at Grayson and McLenan, "leading the Highlassies to a 27-4 record and to qualify for the NJCAA Division I women's basketball championship for the first time since 1984." (According to ESPN)
Wilson would be a really good hire... and her two daughters can play basketball as well from what I hear.

Would she want an assistant's position? Possibly to stay in the area I guess, and/or help with daughter's tuition, etc...
