This leaves some excellent schools in the league — Stanford, Cal, Utah, Colorado, the Arizonas, the Washingtons, and the Oregons. I think this is a more stable group than the Big 12. The teams that should worry are TCU, Baylor, Houston, BYU. Maybe Tech. All the other teams are big flagship schools. Washington and Oregon have reportedly contacted the BIG and the B12 and Arizona, ASU, Colorado & Utah are talking. Oh, and Notre Dame may be ready to join a league.

It will be interesting to see if the leftovers from the Big 12 and the Pac-12 merge into a super-conference. The sticking point will be whether Cal and Stanford will finally drop their strident opposition to having faith-based schools in the same conference as them -- particularly their opposition to BYU, much less Baylor (TCU will probably be easier for them to take). Necessity makes for some strange bed-fellows.

I cannot vouch for this but it was reported online:
According to a report from Jason Scheer of 247Sports, Arizona may be meeting with officials from the Big 12 as early as this week to explore a possible move to the Big 12. And that’s not all. Three other Pac-12 schools could contemplate a move to the Big 12.
Another rumor is Oregon and Washington are talking to the Big 10.
Still yet another statement was the PAC schools wanted to stay together.
Conclusion: To early to know what will happen.

Could a merger of the Pac12 and Big12 happen? Possibly, but it will obviously leave some schools out. Will the MW get poached if a merger doesn't happen and the Pac needs to reload? I am not sure that the Pac will poach much from other P5 conferences. One thing I am becoming surer of is that we will end up with 2-3 super conferences of P5 schools and most of the G5 schools won't be able to catch up. The stronger P5 programs have the money and connections to do what they want. Most G5 programs don't. FCS programs, even dominant ones, have even less. IF FBS super conferences do break away I don't see G5 and FCS schools NOT working together within the NCAA.

They will likely set up a structure similar to pro football for regular season and playoffs. Whatever happens with the Big12, PAC and eventually the ACC they will have list their ‘franchise’ programs to the two super leagues. FCS money games may be lost in the restructuring.

The Big 12 is meeting with four PAC12 schools today to see if they might want to join the Big 12 conference. Those schools are Arizona, Arizona St, Colorado and Utah.
There has been some rumors that Stanford and Oregon would join the Big10, but nothing as of yet.
With the Pac12 going down, what happens to the Rose Bowl?

I imagine the Rose Bowl stays part of the CFB playoff rotation. It's already been the host of several national semifinals and if I remember right TCU played there about 10-12 years ago. The tradition of it hosting Big 10 vs. PAC 10 game will likely vanish.
Right now my eyes are on Notre Dame. They have all the leverage as being the most sought-after free agent in CFB. The Irish could possibly save the ACC, however, its commissioner also has to keep calling FSU, Miami and Clemson to make sure they're not thinking about moving to the SEC.
If I'm Big10 I'd go after Washington, Cal, Stanford and Oregon. Left in the dust would be Oregon State and Washington State.

The Big 10 Commissioner is saying 10 schools have reached out to him in the past few days. I suspect the SEC Commish has received a similar number of calls. For now, all the Big 10 has done is match the SEC’s move to 16- Texas and OU to the SEC and now USC and UCLA to the Big 10. This may be it for this round of realignment. there will be other rounds, but not necessarily right away. Unless of course Notre Dame joins the B10.
If Notre Dame and one or more PAC schools join the B10, I look for the SEC to add several schools from the ACC, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if North Carolina is one of their targets in addition to the obvious choices of Clemson and FSU.

Colorado has called a special executive meeting of its Board of Regents for this Evening. They are saying no decisions are expected, which can mean a lot of things including authorizing the university president to make decisions about conference affiliation. regents.cu.edu/

Now, all of this doesn't rest on the Pac-12 for sure, but it is interesting to see it utilized as a juxtaposition of the situation and possible solutions; or at least give it perspective. "If you love college football then you love it all. You relish in the circus. You crave the chaos. You celebrate the illogical nature of 130-something schools of all shapes and sizes competing for a single championship. Big state institutions, small religious ones, military academies, elite private universities, former jucos … whatever." I am not sure if the author goes overboard or not, but I think he does a decent job of getting to the heart of the issue, as well as point out various blaring realities. Personally, I like college football because it is so vast, varied, unpredictable and fun to watch. The NFL is fine, but it's boring and predictable. The Pac-12 ain't gonna stop a train, but this is still an interesting article. We still don't know exactly what will happen in the end. I still think it will end up in elite super-league of college teams that get the big bucks and attention while the non-super schools do what they have always done. I don't know the exact final product, but at least that looks like a likely scenario. With the most recent discussions, some say the Pac-12 and Big-12 merge, some say the Pac-12 and ACC merge. Who knows where it will go as the battle for position is ongoing. sports.yahoo.com/every-college-football-fan-should-be-rooting-for-the-pac-12-s-survival-190721042.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAELWvmFVe9XfpPoMLoTuhkWQrCCJ9jaiTAJLQPiNDDN0_bLRVgQT2ceUfTFJOdVfkD0F9iydRdTTh4FYanVMKPW5d0io82Fyw6OfDNCoYV2ZAQxC7WODuFE0Y8fuyoZH-MjzJkk5s0-1Fc9LuvM7kBaWX5dd_5FKZKZA-wUQlIWK

The hosts at Sic 'Em 365 have done a tremendous job the last 10 days covering all angles of NCAA re-alignment, and their best interview thus far has been with veteran sports scribe - and old man howlin' at the moon - Richard Justice. Worth a watch and listen.
