There is some movement in Abilene to recognize ACU as a more prominent factor, but maybe not so much in the general public. I notice there is a bit more "Turn Abilene Purple" theme going on, and I appreciate the local sponsors. Hopefully, in time, the City's D-1 program will continue to gain popularity. Winning helps the movement the most.

AD Lassiter sent out an email with a survey about the game. I will be sure to fill it out. I really hope we can find some ways to get people to come as the game experience ACU is presenting is worth it. I think the game being on a Thursday night has as much as anything to do with the small crowd.

I think the popularity gap between ACU and the general public could be narrowed if the local sponsors gave the Wildcats NIL money to appear in company advertisements. You put athlete 'A' in a commercial for let's say Beehive or Cane's and I'm increasing my support for both team and business. Maybe I'm off. But I think that would help immensely to see more Wildcats in commercials.

After last night I can certainly see why Banks moved up the charts so quickly. He is a beast for being a true freshman. Smith started out great but seemed to get banged up a little. Nice to have a solid group to choose from.

I know SMU likes to claim they are Dallas' home team and I'm sure TCU does the same for Fort Worth. I just feel like it is always an uphill battle for a private school to be THE team for a city. It will always be a battle to fight the elitist label that many will automatically slap on private universities. ACU makes efforts to overcome that but it will always be a challenge. It could be worse though. We could be the University of Houston that is public, has a successful team, is in the largest city, and still can't attract fans.

Many of you folks are experts at breaking down the technicalities of the offense and defense - I am not. But here were things I noticed. 1. Offensively, the play calling was much more in tune with what ACU football should be. Over the last couple of years, we were predictably a “run it up the middle, sweep left and sweep right” kind of team. 2. Catalon was the find of the night with some amazing catches. 3. Maverick McIvor (I may have been the only person in the stadium who didn’t realize he is Rick McIvor’s son) was a bit rough around the edges, but, with 3 years of eligibility left, this kid has the potential to be one of the great QB’s to come out of ACU. He needs more protection from the offensive line. 4. Despite the two long pass plays, I thought the secondary was much improved from last year. 5. Blair will bounce back. 6. The fan experience was greatly improved. 7. Loud music between every play was annoying. 8. Loud music covering up the game announcer was annoying. 9. Loud music while the game announcer and the field emcee were talking over each other was annoying. (Great choice for the emcee, he seems like a great kid.) 10. The banana pudding was a bit disappointing. 11. And finally, if any of you were the scientist/professor sitting behind the 64 year old guy and talking with your friend about the nuclear project at ACU, a big thank you - that was the most informative half of football I have ever sat through.

Really good post game interview with KP and McIvor. Agree. A mature and class act by KP. Great to see a player take part.

YBP, you forgot loud music drowning out the band and fight song as the team was running onto the field at the beginning of the game. It all looked very amateurish.
