Well, that top 10 was fun for a week.
We are not out of the playoff picture but we have just made it a much more difficult journey. Basically, to get the automatic bid, we have to win the rest of our conference games and hope someone beats Northern Alabama.
But the playoff picture is chaotic. There is undefeated Tarleton and five teams with 1 loss.
So it’s a new season.

One more thing.
Well done Lions. They made big play after big play. We made a bunch of mistakes for sure, but we were beaten badly in the second half.

Well, that was a disappointing score to wake up to.

Problem #1 - previously playing right tackle at a big 10 football program, I always pay special attention to the guys on the line. I am never a guy to post but the left side of the offensive line played an incredible game, definitely a few mistakes, but hats off to you two gentleman. If you know anything about football, the right side plus the centers’ performance played a major role in the team losing last night Problem # 2 - as a head coach and defensive coordinator, you let 500+ yards against you Problem 3 - penalties. It’s easy to point out the “where we went wrongs” as a fan, but I believe in this team to turn it around for next week.

5 false starts-3 on Yanta (what's that all about?)-1 on LT French and 1 on RT Pullen. 1 motion penalty on Johnson (receiver started in motion before Johnson was set which cost us a TD) and 1 illegal downfield on Pullen (which in all fairness could have been called on the whole OL). And of course 1 bad snap on the 2nd play of the game (after a false start) which cost us a TD. These were all errors of focus not overzealous play, in my opinion.

Just when I was beginning to drink the kool-aid, we lay an egg (mixed metaphors?). What will be a successful season now? Before the season, I was thinking a 8-4, or even a 7-5 season would be progress, but the early accolades had me thinking that this could be "the" season when we establish ourselves as a real contender. Both, the 7-5 and 8-4 records are still possible, but they feel pretty far-fetched at this minute. I think we will have to run the board -- win the final 5 games -- to have any chance of playoffs, but that looks practically impossible.
I still plan on attending the Homecoming game, which should be a large crowd, at least until half-time.

I need someone who knows a lot about offense (or at least thinks that they do) explain to me these numbers:
Rushing: 27 Attempts-7.1 yards per attempt.
Passing 48 Attempts-5.7 yards per attempt.
What am I missing here?

Posted my reply under the wrong tread. To make it short. The officiating was blatantly biased. It was obvious as heck that the officials weren’t going to let us win. Too many penalties against us in crucial times and too many missed calls against them.

What am I missing here? It’s the “Air Raid with a ‘twist’”. The averages are skewed from this game. The longest rush was 63 yards and the longest pass was only 28 yards. The trend this year has been having a pass that went over 70 yards in most games. However, it seemed like UNA had a 3 man front for much of the second half, so WRs were not getting open.

Where were Hut Graham and Trey Cleveland? What has happened to RoVaughn Banks? Why do we not throw to TE Henry?

Banks has a knee injury from what I heard I talked to him at the UCA game. He said that he would be back this weekend. Hope that it correct. I too was wondering about Hut Graham and Trey Cleveland.

Too many penalties against us in crucial times and too many missed calls against them. ....at the game and yes the officiating was very lopsided. We committed penalties but the officials turned a blind eye on numerous opportunities to call UNA for holding and PI. You never want to say the officials caused you to lose a game but I can say they dang sure didn't help ACU. I would have been happy with somewhat fair officiating.

Well, it’s North Alabama, not Northern Alabama. Respect your opponent. Hope you spell Tarleton wrong again this year.
