I thought SFA'S stadium was pretty unique. What did I miss? The last time I saw a game at Sam Houston, it was a high school field (early 80's). I too liked the bowl, I hope the final plans are not like a HS stadium. Both SFA and Sam Houston stadium's are somewhat in a bowl. I agree if we end up with a stadium that looks like McMurry's stadium it will be disappointing.

The "turn" this stadium is taking is EXACTLY the fear I had when we first mentioned an on-campus stadium. My concern was that the ultimate build would look like and average 3A or 4A Texas HS stadium. And when the $30MM price tag was announced, I was even more concerned. The bowl stadium CANNOT be built for $30MM.
The plans looked a lot like UC Davis' stadium, which would be AWESOME. However, theirs cost over $50MM and that was built over 10 years ago. Consider me even more concerned about our stadium than ever before. As always, I'm hoping for the best.

I guess y'all are correct, but I just thought the ACU Stadium propsal we saw last year blew those stadiums out of the water. I have been to alot of high school stadiums over the last few years, and they are getting nicer and nicer, so comparing them to high school stadiums didn't mean they were terrible. I was just excited that ACU was building something very unique that looked amazing. I am sure whatever they build will be nice, and it will be great to eventually have a stadium on campus.

I'm going to look on the bright side. Whatever stadium they build, people will come and there will be a better chance of it snowing at our first home game than our stadium being as bad as HBU's

The student section can be such a big part of the excitement and can provide a home field advantage that could help the team. I was glad to see that you guys attend the NCSSA Convention, and I can't wait to see what you have in store.

Love what you are trying to do for ACU sports. Looks like you have had some success with the BB student section. FB may be a bigger challenge. May have to borrow paddles from the hospital and administer shock to get the Crowd to register a pulse before hoping for a Richter scale report.

Glad to see student interest and involvement on here. Welcome.
I just want some brick or stone with the stadium. No chain-linked/metal fencing.

The student section can be such a big part of the excitement and can provide a home field advantage that could help the team. I was glad to see that you guys attend the NCSSA Convention, and I can't wait to see what you have in store. The Convention was incredibly insightful. We heard from schools like Ohio State, Arizona, Syracuse, and many other large schools with a historic student sections. Soon Shotwell Stadium, and eventually, Wildcat Stadium, will be one of the hardest places for opponents to win in the Southland Conference! In case any of y'all are wondering how we operate; this year we plan on having a 5 person executive board including President, Vice President, Director of Marketing, Director of Communications and Social Media, and a Game Day Operations Manager. We've been working 2 years now, laying the foundation for this year's season. Our advisor, ACU's radio voice, Grant Boone, has been a huge help in getting us off the ground! Many students in the past have said they do not attend games simply because they do not know when they are. Wildcat Reign's goal this year is to eliminate that excuse by going to extreme lengths to make sure EVERY student on campus knows when our Wildcats play. I personally believe, with the excitement coming from the incoming freshman class, that we could potentially have 1,000 to 2,000 students attending football games this fall! A lofty goal for how new our organization is, but with the support we have been getting from the athletic department and the ACU faculty, I don't think it is out of reach!

We have to walk before we can run. I know that we will not have a crappy looking stadium. Nothing else on campus is that way. I just want football on campus.

Does anyone have any current pictures of the track and soccer stadium? I followed the progress camera they had but was under the assumption that it wasn't totally finished when they took that down.

I don't have any pictures but I can describe some of it to you! They've stucco'd the cinder block and painted it like the women's soccer and track locker rooms (kind of purple/tan). They haven't painted the entrance surrounds or the part below the press box. Don't know why--maybe some sort of signage install? There currently is chain link fence all the way around it, but they've put black iron fencing around the shot put area across Ambler so I assume the chain link is just temporary.

Here are a few pictures I took this morning using my Iphone. The track and soccer field are complete and look great. The seats are in but the stucco facade is still under construction. Chain link fencing....could not tell whether this is permanent or if black wrought iron is part of the plan.
