Does anyone know for sure who the mystery commit was from friday? Was it Jones? The kid from Killeen? No social media confirmation from what I can tell. Mavsman's hunch was that it was Jones. Mavsman has a good track record of being right about these things and Nathan Young did tweet something about the mystery commit being a "gladiator," which usualy refers to a lineman, but I can't find any confirmation so I'd say it's a little premature to add Jones as a commit.

Definitely committed per his twitter account. Haven't seen film on him. How does he look? 1 RB--Clayburn 2 WR--Qualls, Dunn 1 QB--Anthony 2 OL--Ngungatau, Jones 1 DL--Ngungatau How is this year stacking up? I'm not as confident as you that Jones is a commit but looking at the rest of the class, we have two big linemen with potential but wo are two years removed from playing ball. Best estimate: they need a rs year before seeing the filed but these guys sure looked good in their hs film. The other 4 are all excellent pick ups for an FCS school coming off a dismal season. Dunn is a 3 star guy and the others are all 2 star athletes. More importantly, all have other offers from D1 schools. Dunn and Qualls both look like they will see the field right away given our need at WR. Overall, I'd say it looks like our coaching staff is bouncing back nicely following the set backs on the field last season.

Guys, you all may be correct that the Ngungatau bros. may be rusty and need a year to reacclimate themselves to the game. If they played golf or Frisbee football or were QB'S I'd tend to agree. But they are big ole boys who play OL and DL. If they have any talent at all, 5 weeks of fall practice and 2 months of conditioning should be enough to get them on the field. This is not rocket science, it is brute strength, blocking and tackling (I realize it's more than that for our guys) so I believe they'll be on the field quickly--if good enough. They may need to get their weight back up.

Kind of strange with this "mystery" commit. The more I think about it, the more it might be Trevor Crain. Crain was offered on Dec. 4th. Crain was on campus last Friday, touring with Coach Young. Young was the one that tweeted about the commit. Soon there after, Collums began following him on twitter, which, is has typically been a tell-tell sign. It just seems odd that, if Crain is the commit, why he would keep it quiet.

Is it true that they can't sign their national letter until Feb. ? If so, this is early in the process and some may not want to kill others interest.

Coaches seem to be hitting the transfer market. Lots of new follows in the past few days, including a QB, OL and DT.

According to the national letter website (nationalletter.org), the signing dates for midyear JC transfers begin Wednesday, December 16 and runs until January 15. Once a JC transfer signs their letter, they are off-limits to anyone that honors the national letter of intent (NCAA schools). The idea that Crain may not be mentioned on Twitter for the next few days until it is a done deal is a valid one. That is only 2 more days to wait, although in the past, ACU has waited to announce its midterm additions until the February 3 national signing date - when those transfers have actually been on the campus for 2-3 weeks.

Oscar, you are correct.
There are 6 FBS transfers we are at the very least showing early interest in. I won't post names yet, unless it looks like we will get one of these guys.
QB- 2 DE- 3 DT- 1
I assume the OT that you are speaking of is a JUCO transfer?
With the first 5 commits this year being offensive players, I have been assuming all along that we will go after several JUCO and FBS transfers. We could definitely use help at DE and depth at linebacker.

One of the QB's is scheduled to graduate and is free to transfer to another P5 school without having to sit out a year. I wouldn't think we have much of a chance there. Trevor Crain is still following other coaches and has not announced anything yet....so maybe if he's a commit he's a "soft" commit.....committed unless something better comes along?

Trevor Crain twitter says he is committed.
Crucial signing if you ask me. An experienced TE/FB to replace Walker and add to the mix of Flowers/Ennis.

Ok, swap Crain for Jones in my committed list. I agree, a great pick up. Saw that he was voted all-conference at FB, so looks like he's been playing that hybrid FB/TE position at Butler.

Recruiting: It's all relative. How are our peers doing? Well, UCA is loading up on Juco players. They have signed at least 8 so far and promise more to come. I guess that should come as no surprise. The Bears lost a ton of seniors and their HC came from juco ranks.
i am glad we are more judicious in signing transfers and juco players. I like the idea of having them 4-5 years.

Bogey, Darrius Moseley is listed at 6-4, 260 on 24/7 sports. He is listed at 6-5, 270 on HUDL. While you note that he would have to grow a lot to fit into our current line, I think that is certainly probable that he would grow. I looked back at the signing list from a few years ago and compared the size to the current size:
-Chance Rieken - listed at 6-4, 270 -- now plays at 6-5, 310
-Austin Hisler - listed at 6-4, 250 when he signed -- now plays at 6-3, 295
A big part of the redshirt freshman year for the O-linemen is picking up weight and muscle.
