Britt also has a steeper hill to climb. Baseball is actually the SLC signature sport on the national level. Even in football and men's basketball we can go from bottom 3 to top 3 in a year, but not so much baseball. There are eight very good teams and a couple of those are close to being elite.

"Elite" which is how I'd have described our program 8-10 years ago.

Well here we are playing Oregon St. OSU leads 6-0 in the 5th. They have 2 hits but 6 runs. You may ask "How is this possible?" Lambright has walked 9 in 5 innings. NINE.

Cats lead 4-0 in bottom of 5th. Out hitting OSU 10-2. Hansen on the mound. Not sure if any OSU regulars are playing or not.

Hate to say it but I seriously doubt it.

Reading the online write up of the game leaves me baffled. We literally blistered arguably the best pitcher (one of the best, with a great record this year, 12-0 and we get 10 hits in 5 innings) in college baseball this year. But with a 1 run lead in the 9th, we leave a pitcher on the mound who has walked the bases loaded, gone to a full count on two other hitters and of course, he walks in the tying run. Could anyone see this possibility on our coaching staff? What possibly could be the rationale for leaving him in the game? Do we not have anyone who could throw strikes in that situation (maybe not, with over 300 walks in the season)? To lose because they (OSU) hit the ball where we can't field it is one thing--to walk them around is another. To leave an obviously struggling pitcher on the mound, as I said, just is baffling (add to the walks, 2 wild pitches). But of course, we left his brother in the night before when he walked 9 and had 4 wild pitches in 5 innings. Sometimes players just don't have it on a certain night, even the best of players. It's up to the coaches to see that and replace them giving the team a chance to win. We don't seem to be able to do that. I'm sure this is disheartening to the team. A great effort wasted. 15 hits vs. arguably the best pitching staff in college baseball this year. Thompson, the starter, had a 1.31 ERA and we score 4 in 5 innings. Frustrated fan!

Well, a merciful end has come to the season. I believe we've reached rock bottom in baseball, it's up from here boys!

Heard that pitching coach Brad Flanders did not have his contract renewed.

Heard that pitching coach Brad Flanders did not have his contract renewed. Not surprising, now hopefully we bring in someone to help us out like Coach Evans did this past season.

Sam Houston is giving Tech fits in the regional tourney being played in Lubbock. SHSU won game 2, so there will be a "winner-take-all" game to see who progresses to the super-regional. Tech is ranked #5 in the nation right now!
