Just for Bogeyman: Been out here for 1 1/2 hours and we haven’t seen a single jet sweep or bubble screen.

Just home from watching the scrimmage and my first thought was they looked well disciplined. Very few jumping off sides or motion, etc. The quarterbacks looked good and it sure seems like we have some faster receivers. Overall, they looked pretty good for this early. And Captain, you are right, no jets or bubbles. I did wonder about a short yardage decision to drop back for a deep handoff, which the defense snuffed out. It was a called running play for sure but I did not understand the thought process. BTW, we have some big guys on the line and at tight end.

The offense has a lot to work on between now and Sept. 1st. Most of the reps were between McIvor and Mansell. Both had really good plays and some bad ones. I think there were 3 interceptions between them. I was disappointed in our new receivers, several dropped passes. Koby did well as usual. Wishert had a great TD run, as well as Banks; who had about an 85 TD run. Banks had most of the carries. I was impressed with our defense. The line played really well. The secondary attacked the ball and was able to close gaps quickly. It was great to see Gator on the sideline mic'd up and talking to the players.

Ghirmai lost his temper against his own teammate.

Most of the night, 1st team O went against 2nd team D; 2nd team O went against 1st team D, though they mixed it up a lot and some times we saw 1s versus 1s
Defense was better than the offense tonight.
I counted 5 sacks; 2 by Duke, 1 by Hart, 1 by Paup and there was another, but forgot who it was.
DE Duke is a force. He was consistently giving our OTs trouble. Had the 2 sacks and probably forced 2 holding calls
LB Dar. Moore was all over the field. Probably had 7-8 tackles
LB Iz. Kelley had an interception as did CB Rol. Williams
DL Warkentin blocked an extra point
Defense just flew around. They gave up nothing early. As the scrimmage went on, the offense got better and did some good things, but the defense won the night

Ghirmai lost his temper against his own teammate. Yes that was bad. But I thought they looked pretty steady, especially on Defense. I don't know for sure that it is a good thing, but a couple of the passes were into very narrow holes but worked. McIvor threw one that somehow was caught with a defender on each side of the receiver--don't know how that was caught but it was. I was surprised by Long at QB.

Fascinating having David Oke at DT. He played DE or Edge rusher in HS. Weighed 245-250 in HS. Did we even recruit him. I don't think he ever showed up on our radar until he was added to the roster a couple of weeks ago.

Offense-
Golightly and Taylor are huge at WR. I mean huge!
Dobbins looked like Fr. RB Dobbins. He was explosive early.
Wishert 1st carry, as said above was a touchdown; 25 yards out or so
Banks, as said above had a long run. Split the secondary and was gone.
Honestly, Long looked like the best QB to me. First time he got in the game, we scored. All QBs had moments, good and bad, but there is a lot of work to do.
The route tree for the WRs is so much different than in years past. They really wanted to hit Golightly on go routes, they just didn't connect.

And a quick correction that I just realized, R. Young started at LB, not Brannon
Also, WR McCasland had some good catches.

As Outsider said, Ghirmai did lose his temper against Duke. However, I really like the way it was handled. Pace immediately took him out for 1 play, calmed him down and then put him back in. When that group came out, R. Moore was having a long discussion with Ghirmai, just the 2 of them. There was no yelling, no screaming, just correction.
