I don't have an issue with questioning a coach of why someone didn't play much. 5,5,0 carries the last 3 games for someone that had been so good all season makes people wonder what is going on. What is so hard for a coach to say after the season that Dobbins was banged up at the end of the season if that was the case? One reason we lost faith in Dorrel was because he kept everything a secret and acted like it was none of our business what was going on.
Having said that, I am also excited to see who this coaching staff is able to bring in for next year.

I did like that in his press conference, KP emphasized the character and life lessons he tries to teach players as much as the actual game.

I am totally mystified why Dobbins did not get more playing time. I am also a big Rovaughn Banks fan, but Jermiah is a workhorse of the bunch. It does not make sense to me. But, then I am not the coach and there might have been a perfectly logical reason.
Footballmama, Reese has been a stabilizing presence on the field for the past 2 years - just as the same thing can be said about Will Morgan on the other side of the ball. I would love to see him play another season at ACU, but I don't know what degree he could pursue at this point. If this is the last season for both Reese and Will, they should have been honored in a BIG WAY this past Saturday.
Looking at the game itself, I think we simply were beaten by the most experienced QB in the league. Trae Self has been a thorn in ACU's side for 5 years and the same can be said for Xavier Gipson. I was frankly shocked that the 397 yards Self passed for in the game was a career-best for him, but I was not shocked that he got it against ACU. Maverick Mc has great potential at QB for the 'Cats, but he simply does not have the game experience that Self has -- although he had a great receiver to throw to in Kobe, just like Self had.
Referencing some of the posts about if this was an improved year for ACU, I don't think anyone who saw any of the games in person can say that this is not a much improved team over last year -- much more than simply a 2-game improvement in the win column. ACU lost 3 games by 3 points -- two of those games to teams that were ranked at the time. And, we lose by 17 to a Mizzou team that may still get into a bowl game (although it will take them beating their arch-rival Arkansas). ACU is not yet at a point that we can dominate an FCS -- the only team we beat by more than 16 points was a middle-of-the pack D2 school. But, we looked competitive in each and every game this year -- we lost by 20 points or more 3 times in 2021 and not a time by that margin in 2022.
No doubt the biggest negative side for me has been the place-kicking game this year. Blair Zepeda has been very steady for the previous 3 years and is very popular on the team. His performance this year has been totally inexplicable. He normally has the distance needed (except the field goal attempt that was returned in SFA Uno), but we was wide over and over again this year. It was like a golfer who gets the yips or the pitcher who suddenly and unexplainedly loses the strike zone.
I am ecstatic to see the ACU win 7 games in a year that I fully expected to see no more than 5 games won. I think this season lays the groundwork for a even bigger 2023 and 2024 seasons. The coaches have brought a lot more excitement to the games and they have certainly done a lot more to encourage fan excitement.
I think that is just about all the random thoughts I have on the topic.

So now asking questions is criticizing? You can have your break. Who is "work(ing) so hard to find points of criticism"? Yes, there was a problem with Dobbins production in the two games that you mention. That problem was: No place too run. Having an offensive line that can open some holes can be a great help to a running back. Five carries by a running back does not tell anything about the backs potential in a game. Can be greatly affected by play calls, blocking schemes, blocking effectiveness, etc. As to Dobbins, no, he was not "banged up" nor "tired". Yes, we are on an upswing. That is great. I think that Patterson is doing a great job. That doesn't mean that some things cannot be improved upon. Who is it that is "work(ing) hard to find points of criticism? How do you know that "they thought that Banks and Smith gave us a better chance to win"? They are both very good running backs. Look at each of their stats for the game. I think that we had only 1 or 2 decent running plays. Both by Banks. Except for 1 play we had basically NO running game. Also, Maverick was hurried a lot. Why was that?

Maybe someone will ask Patterson at his news conference about Dobbins. It seems to me that some coach should answer that question. Will be shocked if he stays and very disappointed if he leaves. I have absolutely nothing against the other two backs. All three are good. I am almost certain that Anthony Smith has one more year of eligibility. Do the coaches want him to stay for another year? I wonder if any coaches are talking to any of the players during the season about their futures. I get the impression that the answer is no. The futures of many of them seem to be very much "up in the air". I can’t speak for all of the boys or every position, but I do know there are already individual meetings with coaches scheduled. They started working towards next year today. It really never ends for the coaches and the players.

Just heard from a reliable source that Jermiah may have/had a minor knee strain of some kind. Not sure if that is true or not but could explain the decisions as to which running backs to use.

We have a good group of players. I hope most of them stick around and make their experience grow even more.

Well, Buffalo just found out how menacing Xavier Gibson can be after he runs a punt return back for a Jets TD in OT to end the game.

Gibson gave ACU grief for multiple games. Over a couple of years... Watching him do it in the pros too shows how good he really was. Kind of reminds me of Knox.
