I try to not get too high after a win and too low after a loss. We have a very good team this year but face lots of good competition. What I don't understand is how Nichols St. gets away with not playing either SFA or ACU (do I understand that correctly?). Is this another ploy of revenge against the Texas4 or would we not pay them to play so they didn't schedule the best teams? Seems a little unfair to miss both SFA and ACU while we play the best twice. Oh well, there's still the tourney (or will an edict come down that the Texas4 aren't eligible?).

Bogey, the schedule was already out before the Texas4 announced they were leaving. I do agree that it's crazy they don't have to face us or SFA.
We have to be ready to play UIW on Saturday. They almost beat us last year in their building.
The big game will be SFA and Sam

Sam gets @sfa then Nicholls and still has to play us again here. Looks like they gave the top team the toughest closing schedule. For the Southland though, what's brutal is that you could win out, have an off-day, lose one tournament game, and be home for the Big Dance. At least the new WAC will have the prospects of a tougher regular season but 2 qualifiers.

Yes, the schedule was out before...but they had an inkling about what was planned. No matter. Yes, we need to be wary of UIW (as we do all teams) but we are infinitely better this year because of our depth. We still have to play each game up to our abilities but I'm excited about the possibilities. Trying to stay even keel.

Read the lengthy SFA board about the game and it seems about half of them though the referees stole the game from them but they also compliment our team and a few accept that you play the referees you get. We have had worse officials especially in some girls games but great teams play though such things, just like we had to last night. To be fair, the SFA board has some astute and very balanced contributors but some who think ACU stole the game due to homer officials (but they did not use such a word.) I am impressed with their knowledge and loyalty and their board is a lot like ours.
My problem with the game was also the referees but I thought very differently. We have taken charges due to our excellent defense with almost every refereeing crew we have had, yet last night's referees missed countless charging calls and blew knowing where the safe zone is under the basket. I saw two at least where the player was safely outside the circle yet got called blocking. I thought the refs did an average job but shooters were getting hammered with no calls on both sides and then a touchy foul would be called... very inconsistent. That contributed to the rising contentiousness as the game progressed. There is never a reason to push a referee so I think the TF against them was justified. But the charging calls upset me the most since playing defense is such a challenge and we do it well. Several calls of blocking on us were complete mysteries to the players involved -- it was as if the refs did not understand charging.
