Anyone know the status of Coryon Mason?

This SFA team scares me much more than Sam Houston's did and we lost to Sam. Sam had two scorers and we couldn't keep them from scoring. SFA has a balanced attack with all 5 starters able to score in double digits. We were hurt with Mason's absence but didn't seem to want to pound the ball to Kohl and Pleasant even with the height advantage we had. What will be the strategy against SFA? How do we beat them?

I think we have to pound and pound. Beat them up in defense and feed the ball inside. Try and get to the basket. I don’t want to see us go 2-13 from three in the first half.

SFA is a scoring monster and I really am looking forward to seeing if our stout defense can upset their sets. They have demolished some fairly good teams so we have a challenge. I agree with the statement that Sam Houston is not as big a worry as SFA and I think we could have beaten the Kats with Coryon in the game (would have, actually.) I look at the SFA game as our biggest litmus test of the year and really look forward to a hopefully positive outcome... but it is nervous time. "Go get 'em Cats." Time for Kohl and Pleasant to be used big time and for some really good 3 pointers and a high FT percentage -- get these things done and play our normal great defense and we could have a great outcome. Boy would that be fun!!!

Howdy. A Jacks fan here. Ive been reading your forum for years now. It’s really the only other enjoyable forum in the SLC. I guess we’ll see if the WAC is any better. I’ve come to really enjoy our matchups as your team has consistently has been on a steady upward trend for the last four years. This contest should be no different. It will be a good measuring stick for both teams. SFA has given up their postseason for this year, so I fully expect another purple team to be representing the Southland in the NCAA’s. Sam is always fool’s gold. Our frontcourt is our real strength. We will probably win the inside battle, but by how much will be the key factor in this one. Our weakness has been guard defense. If your outside shooters can get hot while keeping our bigs from dominating, then ACU will have the advantage. I fully expect being a home game for y’all that it will be very tough sledding for us. It’s our only Quad 2 matchup of the year. Really looking forward to this one, and thanks for running a good board.

Thanks for dropping by, nacluth. Always fun to hear from SFA fans. Very "rabid" group.

That said, I’m not conceding the frontcourt, despite Kensmil, as I think Kohl, Pleasant and Gayman, off the bench, is our strength. Coaching’s push as Keller’s a known and Golding is getting recognized (finally!). That said, SFA’s the “standard”, probation or otherwise, until they’re replaced, which begins tomorrow night! #PrayerMeetingHoops

Should be a good game. Probably depends on Kohl and Pleasant having consistent games. Will be big for us to get Mason back. If he's still out it will be an uphill climb--home game or not.

Did Joe P. play against SFA last season? Not that he’s as stout as Kensmil, but, believe his presence will be noticed.

Has there been an official announcement about Allen? A tweet or an article mentioning his injury or anything?

I understand as someone mentioned on here. But did anyone from ACU (Twitter/grant Boone/golding/ACU sports) announce that?

That said, feel bad for Manny having already sat out last year, as well as seeing increasing playing time. Losing him in addition to Mason being sidelined, really had an impact against Sam.

In the second Joe didn’t play, but Kohl and Gayman picked up their game to cover. We have a four man big rotation that lets us keep two strong bigs on the court at all times. It’s going to be a heck of a battle.
