In the first game, Oregon State beat UCLA in the Pac12 tournament because of a missed FT otherwise they probably wouldn't have made the NIT. The Pac-12 was definitely underrated this year,

One thing we can be looking for is a steady diet of off-the-ball screens set by UCLA. While the Wildcats are very good at throwing the timing of all that kind of action, in their game against BYU, the officials gave the benefit of the doubt on moving screens. There's also a viral dunk at the end of the first half aided by UCLA that was aided by a generous clearout by a Bruin underneath. Expect more collisions in the game today as the Wildcats compress space and look to stay connected on screens.
UCLA has a little more size than SFA on the wing, but I see some resemblance in how they work the ball. UCLA, however, doesn't have a true inside presence. I expect the scorers from UCLA will take the pull-up jumper at the free-throw line rather than barrelling into the lane out of control. ACU will need to contest that shot without fouling.
Hoping for a better shooting by the Cats as well. While UCLA is a good defensive team, Texas was better and more committed to being disruptive. ACU should be able to get the ball inside and move it around the perimeter with a little more ease. Can they find their rhythm?

Here's a really good analysis of the Wildcats done on the 24/7 UCLA site: 247sports.com/college/ucla/Article/UCLA-Basketball-NCAA-Tourney-Preview-UCLA-v-Abilene-Christian-162865677/Now, it's definitely written from a "homer" point of view and doesn't take the ACU stats seriously because of the Southland Conference schedule. He says many times something along the lines of this quote taken from his section when talking about Kolton Kohl and his 12 ppg: "Again, however, keep in mind that he did much of his damage within the conference." However, it does break down each position, the coaching matchup and the tactics. Although...he can't spell Abilene ("Abeline"). Then scroll down at the end of the story to find another writeup.

How in the world did two UCLA assistant coaches tell their head coach (before the game) that ACU was going to beat Texas... They must be good analysts.

UCLA has more NCAA basketball championships (11) than any other university. In the number of NCAA championships in all sports, they are second in the nation. Even though I am a Texas fan behind ACU and Ohio State, in basketball compared to UCLA, Texas is a “wanna be.” Today we are dancing with royalty.

Even though I am a Texas fan behind ACU and Ohio State, in basketball compared to UCLA, Texas is a “wanna be.” Today we are dancing with royalty. For those of us old guys (I’m 63) who grew up in the glory days of UCLA basketball, today is a special day. I would never have imagined that I would live to see the day that ACU would be on the same floor with UCLA, during the NCAA Tournament, and have a very legitimate shot at beating them to move on to the Sweet 16. Now, with that being said, I hope Coach Golding is reading or playing for the team the comments that I’ve heard this morning on CBS Sports that ACU won their Super Bowl on Saturday night and have no chance in today’s game. My cousin, who is a UCLA grad and who bleeds blue and gold, told me that he fully expects ACU to win today. He said UCLA is nowhere as good as Texas. We have to keep up the defensive pressure that we’ve done so well all season. I believe our field goal percentage will be at least 10% higher than on Saturday night because we will have better looks.

The Wooden era was indeed special. UCLA was more dominant than the recent Alabama football teams. And here we are, taking the floor with a decent chance of victory against the royalty you mention. What a great time. I hope we show the world (again) what teamwork and defense can do and if our offense comes up a notch or two, it could be wonderful.

Man, listening to his press conference, I really like their HC. "Speed and disruption"!

Guys I am completely excited about today's game. After the jubilation from the victory the other night, I got a second wave of excitement when I remembered that meant we get to watch them play again! Haha! Also, risking being the debby downer in the forum, I REALLY hope they don't focus on certain bench players being over the top, even taunting during todays game. I really think it takes away from the great guys and attitude we have on this team.

I remember a great former coach telling us before a big playoff game, "Act like you have been here before." We are ACU, and in addition to selfless play and teamwork, I would love to see joy, but sportsmanship and absolutely no taunting. If it is a win or a loss, show real respect to our opponents. This is so obvious.
Early in the season we were excited about cracking the top 25 mid-major poll, and now we are in the round of 32 of all the teams, imagine the round of 16 but don't forget, we are already in the round of 32. There is likely no Wildcat around who thought that was ahead for us this season.

Amen to both of the above comments.
