No doubt of that, YBP. HSU is fighting for survival right now. Their endowment is pretty decent for a school of their size -- $165 million or so -- but, will it be enough to insulate them from some rather precipitous enrollment declines. ACU's endowment is a bit more robust -- somewhere north of $500 million -- and while I certainly wish it was north of a billion dollars that is wishful thinking at this time. The endowment provides around $22 million a year to scholarships and operational funds -- somewhere around 1/7 of the total budget. Although I attended Harding for 3 semesters (I pray the Wildcat gods will forgive me), I know nothing about what is going on there except they have had that precipitous drop in enrollment as well and have fired the President. I wonder what that basketball win will mean for our enrollment, recruiting, and survival. Had a professor tell me this pandemic is no question gonna hit small private religious schools the hardest.

So far this year, even before the basketball win, the recruiting numbers were looking good -- even better than the pre-COVID numbers from 2 years ago. If enrollment and recruiting get a boost of even a small amount, it could be a very good year for recruiting. If the new dorm can stay on schedule and be ready by summer for fall usage that would be fantastic as well. And, that project is even slightly ahead of schedule.

Especially the quote from Grant Boone... “Texas is Goliath. I said it during the broadcast, ‘Goliath falls and ACU has the stones.’ That’s pretty borderline to say at Abilene Christian, but, hey, it’s anatomically correct.” Ha!!!

I'm wondering whether the Southland will just keep the NCAA profit share or if the Texas 4 will get their part in coming years.... The 1st round win should be worth a $1 million or so...

I don’t remember who it was on Twitter but it was one of the mid major accounts I follow and from his understanding, the Southland would be keeping the profit share so it sounds like the Texas 4 will be losing out on it.

This is probably coming from my years spent at the University of Arizona, but has anyone else looked at the Elite Eight and noticed how it is so heavily weighted with western teams? Three of those teams are from the Pac 12, including our great opponent UCLA, who could barely buy their way into the top 20 all year, Gonzaga, two from Texas, Arkansas, and Michigan, the lone representative from east of the Mississippi. The east coast sports “experts” need to stay up a little later at night so they will know what they are talking about.

Why couldn’t UCLA start 2-14 from the field against us?

UCLA hasn’t had a game yet in the NCAA tourney where they turned the ball over more than 8 times. Their offense isn’t special, they like letting guys have one on one matchups, but they don’t play sloppy.

How in the world did UCLA win again? They play smart basketball.

We beat a #3 seed and lost to a team in the Final Four. Who would have thought that possible just a few years ago.

How in the world did UCLA win again? They play smart basketball. Exactly, they have been mentally tough and playing with high BB IQ. They study their teams and adjust quickly.
