100% agree! To see where this program has come. Coach Golding and Coach Tanner have done an incredible job! Now, we find out who comes back, which I think several will Who do you think might come back? A scholarship masters degree is worth a lot.

I hope they have a huge celebration when the team comes back to campus. They need to know how appreciated they are for a remarkable season.

Zach Nutall hit the transfer portal, maybe he comes here.

I’ve got to say that UCLA is as good an 11 seed as there ever was. They can shoot and they remained so patient on offense. Unlike Texas, Nicholls and other opponents. Plus, our lack of perimeter size finally caught up with us against the Bruins’ 6’6 guards. Amazing and memorable season. No complaints here.

They had 5-6 guys at 6’6 that could guard our 1-5 plus shoot and patiently handle the ball and our pressure. We didn’t seem to be able to pester them at all.
I hope we keep building off this success and start realizing we have a legit program to be proud of. Use the resources being put together to develop players and attract players. Use the experience to improve where we can to be more of a presence on a national level. Shooters and team players that want to buy in.

UCLA didn't seem near as flustered by our defense as UT was. Probably a better offense but maybe also a little fatigue on our part. Beating UT took everything we had and I don't know if the guys were mentally and physically recovered enough to challenge UCLA. Even being outmanned, I felt like we gave our all. Just wish some more of our shots had hit the mark. We didn't get some of the "lucky" shots we got against UT.

Plus, our lack of perimeter size finally caught up with us against the Bruins’ 6’6 guards. Amazing and memorable season. No complaints here. You nailed it. UCLA looks better than most of the teams I've seen in the tournament. What was impressive is in a short time they obviously had studied us and knew exactly how to attack our strong defense. Several times their offense moved the ball, without a dribble, with several quick passes until wide open shots were presented and they also knew exactly how to penetrate and spin back using their height to get easy jumpers. It was a real challenge when their guards could block our back line shots or rebound over us. Our driving shots had no vertical space most of the time. I don't know how their record is not better other than they had less time to practice earlier in the year and their roster has changed. Their ball control was pretty special. I did not see any selfish or ego driven plays by the Bruins so they were obviously well coached. If the players at Texas had not been so impatient and individually driven, they would have been a whole lot better. I guess we will see how UCLA's next game goes and if it was mostly just their height advantage against us.

Just a quality basketball mind with love for the game.

What a great season. I hope the team gets a great reception when they return to campus. I am excited by the prospect of some of the seniors returning for our inaugural WAC season, but am discouraged by the lack of recruiting news or buzz from this team. I know it's never typical to land any big names, but we don't even have any prospects listed on the major recruiting sites. It is obvious from last nights game to take the "next" step, we will need the athletes to compete at that level. The last couple of weeks for the program is probably the best recruiting pitch you can have from ACU's perspective...

I feel your pain, Baptizemcats! I really wonder if the transfer portal may be changing the look of recruiting forever. Do we want to fill up our spots on the team before the end of the season? Or, do we wait until the end of the season and cherry pick out of a transfer portal that is chockful of more developed players? This year has the additional challenge of needing to find out which of the seniors may want to stay for another year. Their scholarships will NOT count against our NCAA max of 13 scholarships, but it WILL still come out of a budget that is being trimmed school-wide. Coaches in other sports on campus have lost their jobs -- not because they were losing, but because they regularly overspent their budgets.

Gotta love it! Grow, build, and expand while trimming budgets, payroll, and support staff. It's the ACU way!

Having a close friend who is on the Board of Trustees at Hardin Simmons, I can guarantee you that things could be worse at ACU. Much worse, in fact.

HSU is fighting for survival right now. Their endowment is pretty decent for a school of their size -- $165 million or so -- but, will it be enough to insulate them from some rather precipitous enrollment declines. ACU's endowment is a bit more robust -- somewhere north of $500 million -- and while I certainly wish it was north of a billion dollars that is wishful thinking at this time. The endowment provides around $22 million a year to scholarships and operational funds -- somewhere around 1/7 of the total budget.

Although I attended Harding for 3 semesters (I pray the Wildcat gods will forgive me), I know nothing about what is going on there except they have had that precipitous drop in enrollment as well and have fired the President.
