A very funny comedian in Myrtle Beach is from Cullowhee. He has a skit about the elevation changes in his home town that is funny. I hope he finds a fit there.

Good for Jaron. I imagine he saw that there was no way he was getting a scholarship for this next fall at ACU in what would be his 6th season of college football. Getting a scholarship to an FCS school is far better than I ever thought he could do.

With so many entering the transfer portal, was the message given to the team by KP that he would be bringing in lots of transfers because of lack of talent? Hard to think this many are entering the portal just out of allegiance to Dorrel.

Hard to think this many are entering the portal just out of allegiance to Dorrel. That would be an odd message to deliver only to drive back to Lubbock and not work on hiring a staff or recruiting any transfers or early signings. Maybe they are leaving because they aren't inspired by the new coach

Maybe they are leaving because they aren't inspired by the new coach I think we’re seeing individual responses to KP’s “what’s your why?” challenge. For those who don’t like what they’ve seen, either in KP, their ACU experience to date or both, they‘ve made the “leap of faith” and moved on. More power to them. Meanwhile, for those who stay, may only presume (a) they knew their “why” and (b) appreciated the reminder. Meanwhile, my $ says KP’s staff are individually waiting on exiting job’s season to end. Lastly, with all of the players entering the portal, I, for one, believe a knowledgeable coach will be able study, identify and recruit all that is needed to field a competitive/winning FCS program in short order. But then, my glass is half full!

So you aren't concerned that we've had zero activity on early national signing day and that we seemingly have zero staff actively working on football operations during the most critical recruiting time of the year?

Yeah it’s not great but I don’t care too much, we should all expect to be playing the transfer portal game either way. Will be another JUCO or FBS drop down type of year. Suggesting it matters so much would indicate you expect us to win next year anyways.

Again NOT worried. You want to give a coach 9 days to try and rush to get the right players or 6 weeks. I'll take 6 weeks. Let's get the right guys here, that want to turn this around. And truthfully, they will have from now until August to put a roster together.

That portal isn’t gonna be depleted anytime soon and will also fill back up after this signing day and after spring practice.

The people who have entered the portal are entering the portal for a variety of reasons:
-Ryan Stapp sees Jack Gibbens success in transferring to a P-5 school and he tried the portal and hit the jackpot -- the only ACU transfer who has signed with a P5 school.
-Stone Earle (UNT), Bronson Warner (Bowling Green) and Collins James (UNM) end up at G5 schools -- seems like they did pretty well
-Several have ended up or appear to be headed to FCS schools - Derek Simmons (Western Carolina), Chris Satterfield (Youngstown St?), Remington Lutz (SIU? -- but he could still end up at a G5 school); Jaron Marshall (MS Valley) and Dre Jones (Florida A&M) - most of these are lateral moves, at best. Although, I do think that WCU is located in a beautiful location.
-NAIA - Robert McKnight is headed to Louisiana Christian
-There are several who apparently don't have offers yet -- Osaretin Obadeyi, Greg Green, Hayden Anderson, Jack Schultz, Jamal Marshall and my biggest surprise, Kobe Clark. All of these could end up landing a D-2 or possibly even FCS schools.
Undoubtedly, some of those who entered the portal probably thought they would not get renewed. The winner in the portal lottery thus far is Ryan Stapp, who was our best defensive player in 2021.
