Any chance the WAC loses a basketball school like GCU to the WCC since BYU is leaving ? A chance? Yes. Cal Baptist and Seattle are other options.

The WCC are strong academically. So GCU and Cal Baptist aren’t particularly good candidates.
Seattle won’t get the call as long as Gonzaga has a say.
That’s my HO.

I have had a question for some time. How can a school like UIW announce agreement to join the WAC and then withdraw after schedules are set. Is there no penalty for such? What are the range of agreements on joining and resigning from a conference?

What are the range of agreements on joining and resigning from a conference? UIW agreed to join the WAC effective Jul 1. There is no conference exit fee since they were never officially a member. I believe the WAC exit fee is currently one million. For out of conference games there is a penalty fee for cancellation. I’m not sure about what would have been conference games.

I do not think it will be a scheduling alliance like last year. They are kinda making it up as they go along because JSU and SHSU do not count for the minimum required 6 because they are going FBS and Tarleton and Dixie do not count because they are in the 3rd year of transition. So neither has the minimum 6 for autobid and their was no other solution for either. SHSU and JSU threw a wrench into the works for both leagues football wise and it was too late to amend schedules. I think both leagues are doing the best they can given the circumstances. IF UIW changes their minds and stays in the SLC, then the WAC is in real trouble football wise. I do not foresee any BSC or SLC or anyone else in an FCS league joining. Tarleton and Dixie still have 2 more seasons to play in transition and UTRGV will not have a football team until at least 2025. That leaves SUU, ACU, SFA, (UIW?) as the only WAC teams that are eligible for playoffs until the 24-25 school year and UTRGV will not have a football team until at least a year after that. Who knows what will happen in the coming years, but WAC football is in big trouble. I also heard that UTA is looking to restart football up from a friend that went there but that's also a long ways off.

Do you think WACSUN will be a long term thing? Makes sense, actually.

Do you think WACSUN will be a long term thing? Makes sense, actually. I lean towards thinking so, possibly creating a football only conference together. I think they have more negotiating power, as well as exposure, if they do.

WACSUN, WACOFF ... Daniel son.
This makes my head hurt. I believe there are 22 DI football schools in Texas that fill eight conferences, yet were stuck in a FCS FB footprint roughly 2,000 miles wide with only two other Texas schools. Really unfortunate considering the importance of this sport to the Lone Star State economy.

Introducing the WACSUN Weekly. What a waste of time. It’s all ASuN plus SFA. Nothing but disrespect for the rest of the WAC.

The rest of us will not get respect until we actually start beating ASUN teams.

I agree, I wish other WAC teams would have more mention but we haven't really proved worthy of much consideration. The Rev (SFA) is one of the few that knows much about us because a few of us have had interactions with him and SFA has a history with us. I was pleasantly surprised when he brought up Kolby Clark when they were talking about exceptional players who will get accolades ( in a different podcast I believe). Even when we do well, we rarely have many all conference players, which tend to pump teams above the radar and help kick off conversations. For now, let other teams and people not take us seriously. Maybe we will when we beat them, but that's still a future state.

The rest of us will not get respect until we actually start beating ASUN teams. Last year: Against UCA: 21-40 Against EKU: 15-30 Against JSU: 25-40 Against DI opponents, we didn't have a win against a team with a winning record except for Tarleton. ASUN teams did quite well against us.

I listened to the entire podcast expecting a rundown of what to expect from WAC teams this year. It didn’t happen . Basically, as an ACU fan the podcast was a waste of time. 3 win UNA got more air time than ACU.
