He did mention Clark and in the same breath took a dig at us. I listened to the entire podcast expecting a rundown of what to expect from WAC teams this year. It didn’t happen . Basically, as an ACU fan the podcast was a waste of time. 3 win UNA got more air time than ACU. Just more reason to beat them all... Except for we don’t play any of them…

We may not play ASUN teams but we will have ample opportunity to establish credibility in the FCS world. We play 10th ranked sFA twice, sam Houston, plus a North Dakota team that rarely loses at home.

Jacksonvile St could be the cream of the WAC/A-SUN along with Kennesaw St after their huge win vs. SFA.

They are independents playing a FCS schedule. I think they are moving up to FBS, just like Sam Houston, so even though these teams are in the WAC and A-SUN, respectively they are ineligible to go to the FCS playoffs.

I’m not buying this report. Matt Brown’s earlier report saying SFA is not ready to move up is consistent with what SFA has been saying for several years. SFA’s enrollment is declining. They are searching for a ‘system’ that will adopt them- Texas Tech, TAMU, UT or Tx State. Maybe when they have righted the ship they will be in a better economic position. Till then, I’m skeptical.

With Kennesaw St leaving the ASUN for the CUSA, that makes 9 teams in football for WAC/ASUN. If everyone stays, you could have 8 conference games and then 3 non-conference games each year

SFA only had 7200 in attendance at the ACU game. That does not sound like a crowd that Conference USA would be looking to achieve.

I find it interesting that a school that by my guess has four times as many students as we do, and pulls what we would consider a mediocre attendance for us for a competitive rivalry game, would be excitedly courted by Conference USA. It is more a comment on the state of Conference USA than a reflection of the status of SFA or us.
