I don't know. Since it is a "do not count" game, I guess they needed a Saturday and a near-by opponent to avoid time away from school. But I really don't know. I am just chalking it up as a bad mistake. I honestly wanted to watch the game even though it was an exhibition. I'll either have to drive up and pick up the placard or have them mail it to me.

It’s an away football game, so you could realistically watch them at the same time. No big deal.

It’s an away football game, so you could realistically watch them at the same time. No big deal. 1) The basketball game isn't available for streaming, so can't stream both at home. 2) The WiFi at both Moody and Anthony Field is HORRIFIC and BARELY works. In most cases, non-existent. I cringe every time I am on-call for the hospitals because I can't hardly log into the system and get anything done. I basically have to leave and drive home to take care of the person. So, streaming the football game at the basketball game is out of the question. 3) So, if I want to watch the basketball game bad enough to miss the football game, which I don't, I have to miss the football game. You are making a huge assumption. I was going to go so I could pick up my placard as I was told, but will get it another way. **I'll add that even logging into ACU Guest WiFi (IF it's even available) is one of the worst guest WiFi experiences out there.** **Actually, the last time I was at a basketball game and on-call, I had my laptop with me and got called. I couldn't believe that I actually got logged into the Guest WiFi, but it was so bad it took 25 minutes to get something done that should have taken 3 minutes.**

So yes, regardless if the ACU football game was away and the basketball game was an exhibition, it was a BAD mistake to schedule them at the same time and it makes me wonder if the people were even aware of the conflict.

Calm down, breathe…. Most every time I’m at an ACU football game I’m able to steam most any other game on my phone I choose to watch. This is on cellular network and not WiFi though.

Calm down, breathe…. Most every time I’m at an ACU football game I’m able to steam most any other game on my phone I choose to watch. This is on cellular network and not WiFi though. 1) Exactly 2) I am breathing just fine. 3) On my cellular, I am lucky enough to get live stats to work. The point is ACU has refused to do anything about their WiFi for years, then when scheduling conflicts come up, they say tough that's up to you to find a way. The reality is no, ACU, it's up to you to have the infrastructure in place if you expect people to show up. Well, not scheduling conflicts to begin with helps, but we know realistically it will happen. ALso, the point is bigger than just streaming games while at games. People have other lives to live and work to do that force them to rely on reliable network coverage, and yes, that includes the places you are at. IF ACU continues to refuse to accept that then that's another reason why they fail to have people there. I can promise that their internal WiFi networks for their broadcasting crew, etc.. have been updated. They just made decisions, when they were updating facilities, that updating public access was not important. So far, no one else really cares or disagrees, so that's the way it will continue.

A great evening at Moody, meeting our new players and welcoming back our lettermen. They were all very impressive and ready to take on the strong schedule ahead. Saturday at 2 pm in Moody is a scrimmage against Arlington Baptist and the team is raring to get going. Met the Hulk and he is BIG. Glad to see Dibba, Manny, and Airion ready to go. We have a new point and the team was high on him and his shooting ability. It looks like the challenge is to get all the new players up to speed on a suffocating defense. We have plenty of fine athletes so Tanner can always put fresh players on the floor and stress being a defensive gem. The whole team is bigger than any we have had, up and down the lineups. They seemed to be eager to play Oklahoma State, N.C. State, Arkansas, and stouts like Western Kentucky. They really want to win the WAC. You mentioned: "We have a new point and the team was high on him and his shooting ability." Which point guard are you referring to? The ACU basketball preview mentioned we have three new point guards, :Kavion McClain, Nasir DeGruy, Yaniel Rivera. I'm just curious who is going to be starting at PG this year. Maybe, it will be Hunter-Jack Madden, due to his experience.

I think you are correct, but the way Tanner subs player in and out, he will use multiple guards. The big deal seemed to be emphasizing aggressive defense. The other players were telling me a new point that could really shoot well, especially threes. I heard his name but can't remember it. I told J.V. and Hunter Jack to go ahead and shoot more because I thought they had great form and high percentages.

Men won 82-61. We jumped on them early 17-2 and were up 46-27 at the half.
Starters were McClain Jack-Madden Dibba Simmons Steele
2nd half Igiehon started for Simmons
Rotations PG- McClain, DeGruy TG- Jack-Madden, Seat, Y. Rivera, C. Tanner SF- Dibba, Allen PF/C Simmons, Steele, Bettiol, Igiehon, Muoneke, M. Hill
Games like this are tough to know where we stand.
The good- McClain is a pure point guard. Not quite Damien Daniels quick, but not far from it. He was everywhere. Simmons was really effective. Only shot one 3 pointer and played under control. Lots of back cuts with him out high which lead to a lot of assists from him. Steele played with a lot of confidence. Both Seat and Muo look to have taken a big step forward. Muo can jump out of the gym. He caught an alley-oop and he might have hit his head on the rim. DeGruy is completely different than McClain. He is 6'4, but his arms make him look 6'6 or 6'7. Not nearly as quick, but has a great mid range game. Overall, I think we are deeper than last year.
The not so good- Lots of missed layups and lots of sloppy play. Bettiol wants to avoid contact down low, rather than playing through it. Manny really struggled with his shot today. I do not worry about him, but it was strange to see. Igiehon just needs to play with confidence. At times he looks rather stiff, but honestly, he isn't. But he needs things to go well early in the season and I think that will help him, since injuries have really derailed his career. Hill reminds me of Jalone Friday. He is very big, but very raw. He likes to play in the post more than Friday did, but at the moment, he is lost out there and thinking way too much. Let him redshirt, get stronger, and we will see a real difference in 2024-2025. Just tough to see where we truly are at with a team we are much bigger than and in a game where no one got more than 15 minutes of playing time
Scoring- McClain- 11 Simmons- 9 Steele- 9 Bettiol- 9 Seat- 8 Igiehon- 7 Allen- 6 DeGruy- 6 Dibba- 6 Muoneke- 4 Tanner- 3 Jack-Madden- 2 Hill- 2

Is Igiehon able to redshirt? Honest question, and really didn’t feel like looking up his credentials.

Any reason why Simmons only played 12 minutes. Didn't look like he played in 2nd half.

Igiehon played 2 yrs at Louisville (soph year cut short with injury) and played 2 yrs at Grand Canyon. Whether he has a RS year or a covid year, I don't know. I think cattitude determined earlier that this is his last eligible year.

So, we win 82-61. Last year we won 88-44.

Simmons played in the 2nd half, just didn't start. I think he tweaked something in the 1st half, so I think they were cautious with him.
Arlington Baptist pressed a lot; full court and half court. This was clearly something the ACU staff hadn't spent much time working on as they had a good deal of success with it.
