Looking at our roster I'm wondering where will our points come from. I'm assuming Igiehon will be on the roster in the fall and will be our starting center but he only averaged 2.6 points per game in 10 minutes a game last year at GCU. Those stats will have to improve (and I think they will) for us to be competitive. I think if Bettiol gets 20 minutes per game he can average in double figures. We only had one player average in double figures last year (Manny Allen) and he was at 10.8. Both Simmons (what role will he play) and Dibba averaged 9.6 per game. McClain at PG will be an upgrade in scoring but he may not be as exciting as Daniels was (bringing energy) and will his defense be up to Daniels level? Will Hill get meaningful minutes as a freshman. Will Rivera get minutes? Will Simmons and Steele play the same roles as last year? Can Madden have a better year? Another year of experience in Tanner's system ought to help. I'm thinking that Manny and Dibba will have to be 15 pts per game scorers. If Bettiol and McClain could be in the 12 pt range and Steele and Simmons in the 10 point range that will put us in the 70 pts per game range. Can that happen? Will this team be better than last year's team? Our schedule seems to be getting tougher and we lost two real gamers in Daniels and Pleasant. I'm minimally optimistic. Any insights that I'm blind to? What do you guys see?

I think Manny is due a great year, he can be the star of the team and I am a fan of Dibba's attacking game. It is time for Hunter Jack and J.V. to rise up the offensive ladder, they have the shooting ability to do so. Simmons and Steele need to put their name on fine seasons and they can certainly do that if they have plays that take advantage of their strengths. I hope Cameron spends the summer beefing up. Bettiol has been a mystery for me since he can score but we don't seem to have schemes to provide him opportunities. Having a true big man may change our approach a bit. Not having a big in the lineup for long periods of time in games last year limited our options. There was little chance to drive and dump it off, it was more drive and throw it back out. I think we have the potential for a much stronger offense. The question is defense. No doubt Daniels will not be easily replaced, but Tanner will likely stress defense and those that want to play will surely adapt to that. At this point my only serious worry is we only have one truely big center, the Hulk. This likely means we will have two different approaches to best take advantage of when he is in the game and when he is not. So I pretty much agree with Bogeyman, but something tells me we will be running a few more variations next season--and that gives me slightly more optimism.

I went and watched a bit of the first summer practice on Monday. The team passes the eyeball test for sure. RC, the freshman Hill is a big boy. As a freshman, who knows, but he certainly has the frame to back up the Hulk. He's a true 6'9 at least. Not an exagerated 6'7. He is worth watching.
I can't imagine that Bettiol won't get more minutes. He is so smooth around the basket.
In other news, Manny won't be able to practice this summer. No reason was given but it's a health issue of some sort. Maybe his knee? IDK Also, Ali Dibba is stuck in Sweden. His visa ran out and he's waiting on the bureaucracy.

Bummer about Dibba. I'm wondering if Manny's health challenge is related to the issue that caused him to miss the majority of the season several years ago.

I try and find anything new with Aidan Igiehon that I can, but there isn't much out there right now. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot happening with the Ireland International Senior Men's squad. There is more with the 3x3 teams, but Igiehon isn't participating in those games. Is he mainly using the time to work out closer to home? I am not sure. I can't even find where Ireland participated in FIBA Basketball Worldcup 2023. They are in Group G for FIBA 2025, but no games have been played yet. I guess they will have their games from July 19 to August 5 and can expect to get more news then.

Good news about Hill. I was afraid he was another of those 6'7" centers. Thanks for the good news. Also glad to hear about Bettiol, he can score. I don't know anything about McClain, but assume he has a strong engine.

Like Outsider I've been trying to find info on Igiehon but have failed. The 2023 Irish team just got clobbered by Bulgaria but Igiehon is not listed on that roster. I sure wish our roster was updated so we could know for sure who we're going to war with this fall. Igiehon would be a huge piece (the Irish Hulk).

Just saw about the tournament in the Virgins Islands. Bummer. It conflicts with the A & M football game. Would love to tried to go.

Watching the posts go at it today, I came away thinking, if Bettiol is a true 6'8" then Hill may be 6'10". But my eyes aren't as sharp anymore so they may both be 6'7".🤔

2 weeks until the guys go to Germany. I'm guessing the practices will be intense--at least coach Tanner will be.

I had gone through some of the older ones and where I was finally able to find the schedule. It says that Ireland lost its 2 closed door games with Switzerland but got better from game 1 to game 2. It is good to see that the article does list Igiehon as being with ACU.
