I'm going to keep pretending as if this name is a mystery...but if it's the coach off the ND staff I think it is, I'm intrigued, but at the same time I'm very very worried about the lack of experience. I am not as worried as before after noticing he played under Holtz in college and Dungy in the NFL. Considering that also takes away any concerns about his lack of Texas connections.

As the 'Tude so wisely put it, "We haven't had this much fun since the old days on D2football when we announced we were going D1."

Seeing KC's name in the above post from Oscar makes me wonder if anyone has heard any rumors about where KC might land for the next season. I know that the FBS schools are still finishing out the season and probably won't start considering staff composition for a few more weeks, but would love to see Ken get a chance as a QB coach or even an OC at a FCS school or a top-flight FCS school.

My apologies for the time between posts. My oncologist has been adjusting my meds (the kind that makes you feel like crap) and they're only making me feel worse. I swear a few burly guys have been following me in a dark colored 4 door sedan since I last posted. As an addendum to my last post a man visited ACU's campus approximately 3 wks. ago and let this be known. If hired as the next head coach his first order of business would be dismantling of the "safe room" filled with warm and cuddly puppies and kittens some of our players have been allowed to crawl into to stroke their egos whenever their feelings have been hurt, much like the students around the country who were b--t hurt when Billary was defeated. Furthermore, he stated "The only warm and cuddly feeling players who disrespected or cursed him out would be the warm and cuddly feeling the repeated thumping of a size 13 Tony Llama gave them on their gluteus maximus as they hopped out the locker room, bags in hand. The only problem this guy has is getting around the fact he has friends in low places who don't conform to ACU's standards. I can finally spill the beans about this potential hire seeing as though jumping over the hurdle of knowing too many people in low places turned into leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Don't need to mention his name, he's in the Senior Day video. He's the guy chomping at the bit ready to get the ball rolling. It's a crying shame he didn't receive the offer if only for the fact he would have saved ACU a TON of money. He was willing to work for housing, meals at the Bean, and transportation. Yeh, that's right, he was standing on the right hand side of #9.
Speaking of # 9, he was introduced as a defensive back. Could this be one of the reasons our opposition's receivers were left wide open and had our secondary snorting turf-dust?

Delaware shelling out the big bucks to hire a successful FCS head coach away from Richmond.
"Delaware (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop Delaware has been targeting Richmond head coach Danny Rocco to become their new head coach. Richmond plays at North Dakota Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs. In 5 years at Richmond, Rocco has won 42 games and a win this weekend would guarantee the Spiders their second straight 10 win season."

Oscar, what is considered "big bucks" at the FCS level?
I looked up some info on Danny Rocco and his salary at Richmond - he was paid $437K in 2015 and probably more than that in 2016. He made a fraction of the money made by the basketball coach (paid over $1.1 million). The highest paid person on campus is the President of the Spider Management Company - the guy who oversees the management of the $2.4 BILLION endowment - that guy made just about $2 million. The University President at Richmond made less than the basketball coach and less than the top 2 guys at the management company. Sounds a little like ACU, where the highest paid person on campus is the VP of Investment Services, although the ACU endowment is "only" valued at $350-350 million.

Here is a list of some of the top salaries, topped by Turner Gill at Liberty. 750k I suspect Delaware will have to pay 500k plus to attract Rocco. www.aseaofred.com/scanning-fcs-coaches-salaries/

Not sure how Adam Dorrel's name got on our list of possibles. He's at least a 3rd generation Bearcat who reportedly made about $250,000 in 2014 when Missouri State was looking for a coach. Absolutely no way, would he move to Texas after turning down Missouri State, for far less salary at ACU and no experience with Texas HS football. I'd say he's at NWMS for life although the name is intriguing. I looked up NWMOState salary base (unlike private schools, public u salaries are available). He made 146K last year.

I know the head coach at ASU made 140K last year, that is more than what Collums was making after being with the schools for a decade. If ACU really wants to compete, and I mean really compete, not just say they want to, they will need to significantly up all of the salaries for the entire coaching staff. No way a extremely successful D2 coach who has spent his entire life in the Missouri Valley making virtually the same money would leave that for an unpredictable (at best) job in Abilene. If he goes anywhere, my guess would be Missouri, not ACU. I may be wrong but that just doesn't make any sense to me. That dude is almost untouchable at NWMSU, why would he leave that to come to a fledgling FCS program?

If anyone thinks ACU is going to toss chump change out into the prospective pool of coaches, they would be wrong. The powers that be (big money donors) didn't dump 50 mil into the new crib to lease it to the AISD for a dollar a year or to velcro a few plastic flags on on our guys and have them play intramural flag football next season.

IS anyone seeing a trend here? ACU in the financial situation that they are in, as a University, can not hire a big time name to come in and run this program. Someone needs to hit the reset button up there!! New stadium? Great!! No money to pay coaches, no money to travel on, no money to buy this GREAT Nike gear to give to players when they get here. Unfortunately these things are known by the other coaching staffs in our conference and will be used against ACU. Not to mention that the academic standards alone and ability to get juco transfers in is almost impossible. Then tell a kid that he has to sit in Moody and listen to somebody ramble on for 30 min a day and get 55 chapel credits per semester. This is where KC's staff did a great job in engaging with his guy's personally in football chapel, but you can only do that once a week. The reality is other coaches in this conference will use that against ACU in recruiting. You have to have a guy running the program that can appeal to the parent's and spin those things in positive direction. Not everyone can do that.
