I ran into Dakota Laws today on campus and chatted with him a bit. I was asking him how the attitude of the team is this year. He told me that the camaraderie on the team has improved dramatically this year. They are frustrated that the season did not turn out how they wanted, but THEY believe that they are a winning football team. It was good to hear this from one of the team leaders like Dakota. Thanks Trackfan, I am glad to know the team is still positive. May they know we are with them every step and we know that with their hard work they will soon show just how much of a winning program they are. I miss Dakota's grandfather tremendously. Dakota comes from an amazing family and he is showing it. Dakota is a special young man and is proud to be an ACU Wildcat. His grandfather was an ACU graduate and took Dakota to ACU games (football, basketball, volleyball... and any other games he could take Dakota to) when Dakota was little. Dakota lived 1 block from campus on EN 20th and attended Taylor Elementary through 2nd grade. With both of his parents having degrees from ACU, Dakota has truly been a Wildcat his entire life (he even attended ACU classes while in his mother's womb). The greatest pleasure was that his grandfather was able to see Dakota play as an ACU Wildcat an entire season before his untimely death 2 years ago. Usually freshman (especially linemen) redshirt their freshman year. Thankfully Dakota played (and started most games) as a true freshman so his grandfather could sit in the same stands that he had sat in many times before and watch his grandson play for ACU.

"Uncle Ken" was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, friend and minister for the cause of Christ. He is missed. You are right, Dakota is a special young man and comes from a great family. His leadership will once again be a key factor over the next year.

DB Nico Greenwell has medically retired from football. I wish the young man well.

Saw on Twitter that LB Gavin Burford is transferring for his final year. I wonder if he just felt under utilized or something personal? He played all 11 games, but had one of the lower totals of tackles.

I'm guessing Gibbens will play middle then. Chambers and maybe Dunn or one of the converted safeties at Sam and Will.

Talked to Landry Hutchins. He’s playing Will and looks like he’s put on 20 pounds.

Yikes, I thought that Gavin had a good chance of starting in the middle next year - he got a lot of playing time this year. Really good kid from a good family - his parents traveled extensively to see him play. I would have to say that Gibbens might appear to have an inside shot at the MLB spot, the kid looked really, really good this year. Seems to have a nose for the ball - reminded a lot of a bigger version of Sam Denmark during Sam's freshman year.

Clabe Holmes will be transferring to Texas State. Not a big loss as he didn’t really see the field much last season.

And it's official, Dallas has said on Twitter that he's been granted his release and will play both football and baseball elsewhere next year. Wish him the best of luck.

Yeah, nothing but praise for a guy who gave us his all. Heard today from a player that he wanted to transfer to San Angelo but Coach D blocked it. Says Dallas looking now to get closer to home in OK.
