Don't we play them next year? If so, coaching staffs will often not allow a player to transfer to another school in conference or to a school that we will play the next year.

I would think that SWOSU might be a possible landing spot for Dallas. It is close to home for him. He would be immediately eligible for baseball this spring -- their baseball team is badly in need of pitching -- they went 18-27 last year. Their HC in football retired after a 3-8 season. They hired the Offensive coordinator/QB coach from Missouri Western -- a guy who had been an assistant for years at D-II and FCS schools. The biggest negative for Dallas moving to SWOSU would be that their starting QB and backup are both rising seniors. But, with a new HC, one would have to think that all positions are open for competition and Dallas is certainly a competitor.

First thought when reading Dorrell would block him from Angelo was 'that's crappy' but had totally forgot we added them to the schedule. Very common to block players from transferring to schools within conference or that are on the schedule.

Angelo State is probably the only D2 school in America our coaches would deny a waiver for Dallas to attend since we play them.

Very common to block players from transferring to schools within conference or that are on the schedule. But it does happen where players end up playing against teams they previously played for. There are three ways this can happen 1. The current coach can grant a waiver that permits the student athlete to transfer to a school on the schedule if the school he is transferring from. Some coaches will do this. Most won’t. . 2. The student athlete can go to a junior college and then transfer to any school he wants without a signed waiver. 3. The student athlete can transfer without a scholarship to the school of his choice.

Makes sense to me. If that player is Dallas, he could give the SA coaches everything they need to prepare for the game next year. Even if it is someone else. I hope Dallas lands on his feet. He may have made some immature decisions, but he played hard through a lot of turmoil.
I note that all of these transfer announcements are coming during the coaches end-of-season interviews. I'm thinking that when players hear the coaches plans or lack of plans for them, some are deciding to move on. Can the coaches pull their scholarships?

Yes, coaches can and do pull scholarships. You will hear a student-athlete say I am here for the next 4 years, but most if not all scholarships are reviewed at the end of each year.
I will say this again and again, this team will look VERY different next year.

I will say this again and again, this team will look VERY different next year. At least when I was there, scholarships were reviewed every semester (except freshman). There was an end of semester meeting and everybody was told their new scholarship amount for the next semester or that their scholarship was being cut. At least back then, the NCAA required all freshman scholarships to be guaranteed for a full year so freshman did not have this but everyone else didn't. Will never forget at the end of my freshman year (like literally the day we had to check out of the dorms) I finished my meeting and was told my scholarship was going to double for the Sophomore year. I just about floated back to the dorm I was so excited only to find my o-lineman roommate's meeting had not gone well and he was just informed that his scholarship was removed but he could continue as a walk on if he wanted. It was there I realized just how cut throat this was going to be. For the next several years I saw lots of guys get their scholarship's pulled, some even going into their senior year. Some of those guys did transfer to rival schools, including one who was cut as a senior and went on to torch us as a receiver for WT the last game of the year. Hey 86, do you remember that guys name?

With 2 new JUCO commits, here is where I see things currently. Now, when I say that the staff is looking at a player, this means that at least 2 coaches are following him.
QB- Likely need 1 more QB, probably a HS kid.
RB- I am looking to add at least 2 RB's. Robert McKnight is coming in for a visit next week. The staff is looking at 12 JUCO/transfers currently and have offers out too 5 of them
WR- Even with 2 HS kids committed, I expect the team to add 2 transfers to the mix. We need to find a couple of guys that are 6'2+. The staff is looking 9 JUCO/transfers and has offers out to the 3 players.
TE- With the addition of Bruner, we have a pretty good TE group: Ennis, Bruner, Flowers, Giddens, Lutz
OL- I think the staff will add 4 players here, and at least 2 will be transfers. The staff is looking 20 JUCO/transfers and has offers out to the 9 players.
DE- Lots of youth here. I think we will add 1 player to the mix
DT- Plenty of depth here. We could add 1 more player, but it is not a must at the moment
LB- Likely to add 2 guys. The staff is looking 6 JUCO/transfers and has offers out to the 1 player.
CB- Look for the staff to add 2 guys here. The staff is looking 14 JUCO/transfers and has offers out to the 5 players.
S- Probably the deepest part of the team. We return 3 seniors and 1 Jr. I think we will add a player, but it will likely be a HS kid.

I hope we have enough scholarships left after signing day that we can add a few step downs at positions that need immediate help.—RB, OL, WR, CB. Lots of very good QB’s pop up after spring as well.

TE- With the addition of Bruner, we have a pretty good TE group: Ennis, Bruner, Flowers, Giddens, Lutz We saw how important it was when Crain was playing. As much as we have been clamoring for Ennis to get the ball, I'm to the point that I don't think he is a enough of a weapon or else he would have been getting it. We need to hope that Giddens really takes this move and decides he wants to excel. Lutz hopefully has put on weight and Flowers is hopefully getting healthy. This position group still concerns me. As I have said from the beginning, I hope that Qua Washington bulks up this offseason and builds himself into the HB role. He is not our future RB.

Oscar, the staff has started looking at a number of FBS RBs, LBs and DBs. I should have been more specific when I said JUCO/transfers. The vast majority of players being looked at are JUCO players, but some are D1 transfers

Ennis told me last week that he had played with a meniscus injury most of this season and tried to come back at the end of the year after having a minor procedure to get it fixed. Could explain why he wasn't getting the ball. Also, the lack of depth at the position hurt us this year.

Is Huhn leaving? I don't know if he had eligibility left or not.
