Did he not already sign? Or are the coaches letting him out of his binding letter?

Cornerback CJ Wall just tweeted that he was accepted at Princeton and will be playing football there. #bigrecruitingloss Doesn't he have to sit out a year? Princeton is FCS, same as us

No idea. But I'd bet ACU let him out of his letter.

Princeton is an FCS school, but like the other Ivy League schools, they do not offer athletic scholarships and do not participate in the National Letter of Intent program. When an athlete "signs" a letter from an Ivy League, they are signing some kind of scholarship offer from the school (like D-III schools), but they are not signing a true NLI. All scholarships at the Ivy League schools are based on academics and need. The Ivy League schools also do not participate in the FCS playoff process. Ironically, they do participate in the March Madness basketball playoffs.
In reality, do they give athletic scholarships? I am certain that they do. If the Ivy League schools ever started to dominate in any sport, I think the NCAA would begin to look more closely at the arrangement. But, they are really not very competitive in most NCAA sports.

Multiple reports coming in about transfers from TCU, SMU, Wazzu, and OU. Most are reportedly defensive backs. One offensive lineman in the mix.

Can you give names or do you not feel comfortable doing that? I only have names from one source, and a request not to divulge them. I felt ok about putting schools out because i have three sources who have not said to keep mum.

I read on Twitter that Chase Harris from Prosper has "signed" with ACU. Listed as 5-10, 195 and the tweet came from ACU alum Jimmy Isbell, who covers the Denton County area for the local paper.
A few weeks ago, I read about another walk-on who was listed as "signing" with ACU - Granger Harris, who plays for the Brazos Valley Homeschool team, a 6-man outfit. When I looked a little further, I was intrigued to see that he is 6-1, 220 and said that he would be playing slotback for ACU. Decent size.

Anyone know if there is a limit in how many people a FCS school can bring to school for August practices (guess we can't call them 2-a-days any longer)? FBS schools can bring 105 to their pre-season practices and no more than 5 of them can be so-called Preferred Walk-ons. Of course FBS schools have 85 scholarship kids and will have walkons from previous seasons.
I just wondered if ACU has an imposed number we can bring or if there is simply some budget restrictions that limits the number that can be brought to campus early. I think ACU had around 95 report in August - there is no NCAA limits in how many can report on the first day of classes.

I saw a post on the ACU 2021 Twitter post about a kid named Christian Mayfield, who is planning to walkon in football at ACU this year. He is a 6-1, 170 CB/WR who played 6-man football at tiny 1A Christoval. I post this mostly to acknowledge a football great who also played 6-man ball in Christoval - none other than the great Jack Pardee. For you youngsters, Pardee went from Christoval to have an All-American college career at TAMU; an all-pro career with the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins; then, a long and illustrious career in coaching in the NCAA (U of Houston), NFL, USFL, WFL, and the CFL. Just a reminder that occasionally a big-time athlete comes out of a 6-man school!
