Wildcats win 73-63 over A&M Corpus Christi. Looked like a lot of subs in the game. Degruy with 16 points and Bettiol with 15.

Very good effort by the Cats. Tanner took the opportunity to play the whole squad. With Dibba and Igiehon missing and Simmons injured we often looked like a different team. Bettiol dominated their big men. Seat had a nice game, Degruy had some really big shots. Hill still has a ways to go but as a team we looked really good. Will be a challenge vs Tarleton with a depleted roster.

What in the world is going on with the score??? The CC newspaper has AMCC winning 73-63 and the live stats now have AMCC winning by same score?
Well... now they have it right. Oops, not yet. The Stats have Hunter Jack Madden playing for AMCC. And the headline is 73-63 in favor of Aggies and the box score has it 73-63 ACU. What a mess. Glad we won!!!

Was at the game and just got home. Dibba was on the bench in street clothes the whole time. I hope he plays tomorrow; we'll need him. Tanner indeed took the opportunity to play the younger players for a larger part of the game. I was shocked when he threw Colby in there mid game. We REALLY struggled with TAMCC's speed for a good part of the game and they pounded the glass WAY better than us. Yes, Bettiol did well, but we lacked offensive rebounding like normal. Against a SLC team that didn't hurt us in the long run. It has proven to hurt us against tougher opponents. I really hated to see Simmons play with a hurt hand. I hope to see him tomorrow. All in all, this young team has a ways to go but shows promise. It was a battle back and forth all night, but the Cats stuck it out and finally began to hold their lead. What tonight showed between both Tarleton and ACU is just how tough the WAC really is. Tomorrow is going to take everything we have and then some...

I hope there are more Cat fans there tonight. It was kinda embarrassing how few there were last night. This is a home game for Tarleton and they were there in droves against TSU.

The fewer witnesses to this the better.

The fewer witnesses to this the better. Yep, tonight was a joke.

Other than terrible (no) defense, no offense, poor ball security, and poor rebounding I thought that we played a good game.

Potentially, we have 4 out of 5 of our top scorers coming back next year. I'd expect both Degruy and Rivera to get more floor time next year based on their games this week. That's 6 solid players coming back--add Seat, Muoeneke and Hill. Question marks are Madden and Steele (I'd expect Madden back but not Steele). With the 2 freshmen we know are coming, how many others will we add? We need at least 1 big man, maybe two. The players coming back and the 2 incoming freshmen ought to be able to play Tanner's defense well. Dibba, Madden, Bettiol, and maybe Degruy (if his minutes increase) should be double digit scorers. If we could just get that tall, dominant center/forward we'd be set for a much better year. Looking forward to seeing what that big man rc alluded to, will do. Go Cats.

First, I think we have to expect at least 2 guys to hit the portal. Second, unless it is some big secret, there is NO big man that has committed to ACU as of yet. There might be a guy or 2 that they feel good about potentially coming in, but that is about where that stands.

"Alluded to" does not mean committed.

Trouble is what we saw this week. Even with Madden, Steele, Bettiol and Simmons (albeit hurt) helping, the newer players struggled with turnovers, defense and rebounding against both TAMCC and Tarleton. Again, against a SLC foe like TAMCC we were able to get away with it a little more. That's not true against our WAC competition and above. Truthfully, they all struggled with Tanner's defense for a good part of the year, even Tanner's veteran players; new line-ups and rotations? Maybe. Maybe it was other things. There is potential there, but I have moved away from anything near identifying them as solid in describing these players. Last night showed that, as well as a good part of the season. There was just too much inconsistency. Were the guys just wore out? Maybe. Tarleton sure didn't look wore-out. I stood there and watched them continue to get more aggressive as the game progressed. Like many times before, we didn't run set plays. We didn't move and we didn't pay attention to the ball. So, all that to say, even with a large portion of these players coming back how are fans really supposed to feel about the off year and transition from 23/24 to 24/25? If Tanner used last night for evaluation, that's what we got, fair or not. Unless there are major changes ACU is in for another sub par year. I am sure Tanner sees it differently.

RC already backtracked from his statement of there was a big man coming here, to he hinted at there might be one. I'll stick with there is no new big man signing or committed here as of yet

What we all need is a dose of a grand moment in our basketball history. I watch this from time to time and it is still amazing and almost unbelievable. It sure was nice to have a 7 footer back in the day:

This one still helps when I get down in the dumps. However, the Coach posted a nice message on the ACUsports site. He predicted a better season ahead, and since I love basketball, I am already feeling better.
