I'm with Catmaster. A boatload of transfers are tough to blend with your returnees - a few here or there to fill specific needs can be just the right thing. I know that everyone on this board hopes that Cedric Dale, Richard Griffin, Junior Olie and Carl Whitley have the kind of impact that Jonathan Epps did last year for the 'Cats.
Going back in the ol' memory file, I remember one year when ACU brought in 10 transfers from West LA JC (probably around 1978 or 79). Exactly one of them lasted longer than 1 semester. That was a catastrophe for ACU.

Coach Steven Thrash just tweeted a couple emojies (as if celebrating) and #ACURISE... this usually means someone has committed to ACU. Wonder if it is a late addition to the 2015 class or an early committ to 2016... or something completely unrelated.

Saw that too. Typically, other coaches jump in with that tweet if we have a commit. Thus far, Thrash is the only one to do so. I will try to have an updated lists of guys we are looking at in the coming days.

It has been announced that Hanner Shipley has transferred from LSU to play OL for the Cats. 6'5" 298 or so. I'm thinking he's eligible right away. If he was redshirted at LSU he's a 4 year guy.

He was a 2015 recruit. i think he enrolled early at LSU, so he is still a true freshman with 4 years of eligibility. He was recruited as a tight end as I recall but also listed as a tackle. Since he was a TE, I'd guess he will be a very versatile tackle.

Holy moly, things keep getting better. Can we get any more DB's, just to even out things?

This is really good news. This recruiting class really needed another OL. One thing for sure, our coaches aren't just recruiting warm bodies. They seem to only be willing to bring in high quality talent.

Wow, Hanner Shipley is a GREAT pickup for ACU, both as a player and as an ACU legacy, of sorts. The kid is big, big, big. I understand from reading on-line that he wants to play TE. That would make sense, since his Dad, Stephen Shipley, was a superstud receiver at TCU in the late 80's-early 90's. Stephen was a tall WR - 6-6, 225 kind of guy that really played a kind of WR/TE hybrid before there was such a thing.
How is Hanner a "ACU legacy" if his Dad went to TCU? Both of his uncles, Ben and Bob, played football at ACU, although only Bob played his entire career at ACU. Hanner's cousins, Shelby and Addie, went to ACU - Shelby played basketball for ACU until she suffered a career-ending injury. Bob Shipley was also an assistant coach at ACU for several years in the late 80's. Plus, all of the Shipleys are related to the Don Hoods (see, I can always tie the subject back to track and field!). Don Hood's late wife was the sister to Hanner Shipley's grandmother. Got that?
I will be really interested to see where ACU plugs in Shipley. Very exciting news.

A 300 lb TE. Is that even possible?

The tweet from ACU sports says he will play OL, which makes more sense considering his size and the need. The ACU TE position seems pretty solid for years to come with Walker, Ennis, Flowers, Griffith.....and OL depth is really needed.
